That quote from LaPierre about the various kinds of killers would look great on a pic of Thomas Jefferson and passed around facebook

From the BBC. An FBI study shows a Good Guy with no gun 3 times more likely to stop a Bad Guy than a Good Guy with a gun. <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/w..." target="_blank">" rel="nofollow noopener" title="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-2935719...">http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/w...

(I realise my phrasing can be mathematically misleading, but 13.1% vs 3.8%!!)

Gun control advocates are <i>so</i> paranoid that the actually go about their day <i>without</i> carrying instruments of deadly force concealed on their persons. How crazy is that?

Really ask the girl in the spring break assault.the unarmed crowd really stepped in.

One one hand the left promotes that there is a rape culture, on the other hand they say you don't need a gun because to have one is to be paranoid. The Constitution guarantees citizens rights to bear arms and self defense. .The police cannot protect you, they respond to crimes, not prevent them. Would you rather have a family in a body bag after a home invasion or the criminals invading the home? Gun crimes are perpetrated mostly by those obtaining weapons illegally , even from the government giving them away ( fast and furious) or illegal sales by military personnel, theft and even guns in police evidence rooms found back on the streets. Sorry but there are background checks already, and has been proven effective. Those with concealed carry permits go through training and must pass even more checks. If you think they fail, then look at all the ptsd military veterans that cannot pass the checks already in place. I will support gun control when I am given the same armed bodyguards, and the same gated castles that those promoting the controls have.Until then I am on my own as is everyone else. Notice in the Ferguson looting, armed citizens guarded Businesses when the police would not.NoTice that unlike the police those armed citizens did not open fire on the crowds.Notice also that the looters did not attack those businesses. You tell me who is more responsible carrying weapons, the police trained to kill shooting unarmed men, or the citizens not wanting to kill, but simply do not want a business to be burned and looted.

I find it interesting that plain old "haters" made its way into LaPierre's litany of threats there ...

<em>"What does it say about you that you are afraid of people who are legally exercising their right to bear arms?" </em>

It says that I'm not omniscient, and that I cannot tell if the guy with the Glock on his hip or the AR-15 slung on his back is a "good guy" or not just by looking at him.

And yeah, I've been mugged. I've been assaulted. I've lived in rough parts of town where gunshots and sirens were just the background music. But not once have I ever considered the need to put on a piece and carry it wherever I go.

Clearly every gun owner is responsible and sane, until proven otherwise. That's not a rational reason to lose faith in lethal security blankets.

"What does it say about you that you are afraid of people who are legally exercising their right to bear arms?" Um - it says that I think you all have teeny weeny peenies.

Did Wayne explain how a gun was going to protect you against power failures, chemical weapon clouds, and biological weapon attacks? Because that part wasn't clear to me.

I was disinclined to his argument, but since he is wearing glasses, I must concede to my intellectual superior.

Seriously, where the fuck was the NRA in that case? Their silence is deafening...

I don't actually have a problem with concealed carry, assuming that the person has gone through a thorough background check and intensive training and certification (plus some common sense limitations on where it is permitted). My problem is that the NRA advocates that any yahoo with a pulse should be able to get any gun he or she wants from a corner vending machine without even the pretense of checking to make sure they're not a criminal or a nut job or have even an inkling of training and they want that right to extend to wherever they feel like carrying, including bars, schools, churches and government buildings. So the NRA's little clip is really nothing more than an animated straw man argument- just more bullshit from Wayne Le Pew
