You need digital, because the cops are very skilled at the "accidentally-opening-the-back-of the-camera" move. (Part of police academy training, judging from the fact that they all know how to do it.)

Note: Modern police forces have largely upgraded to the "SD-card-must-have-fallen-out" routine.
