After he finished issuing orders to his secret cabal of underground socialist Muslim revolutionaries around the world, President Obama met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to write an op-ed in Not American about the need to consider climate change and free trade in a globalized world. [
The argument is about the election and his suitability, not his actions as president. I think the arguments for his unsuitability are overwhelming. If an actual Manchurian candidate won the EC and and that news came out in September, what would your position on the EC voting its conscience be? How far is Trump from that? If a candidate was revealed to be conspiring to end press freedom, subvert the Constitution, jail his opponent, what would you position be? How far is Trump from that?Maybe you are right that it should not be done, or attempted at all, considering that it attempts to overturn the results of the popular vote in the State in which an elector would switch sides. Or maybe the efforts should be directed at the state legislature, which ultimately decides the rules for its electors, rather than at the electors themselves. Although I don't think they can change the State elector slate or rules at this point. An argument for your position that you don't mention is that there is no constitutional support for the idea of the EC serving as a instrument for electors to vote their conscience, to prevent tyranny, for example. I don't see that it's mentioned. The assumption was instead that the tyrant would win the popular vote, and the EC by its normal process of selection by States would override the popular tyrant. Ironically, many Trumpists would probably agree it is working as intended to stop that tyrant Hillary. So I'm more sympathetic to your position than I was but still think the dire situation and symbolism of "no normalization" and "no mandate" need to be considered. Although I'm leaning your way.
Sorry, I'm a traditionalist on this one. The electoral college reps should do the job they were intended to do, otherwise the system will not work. Yes, I hate the thought of Trump as President, but he was elected and until he does something that will get him impeached he will be president. We can survive a bad president, we cannot survive undermining our own system.
Unfortunately, we won't. I'm not sure why we're our leaders are so spineless (not badass Harry Reid!), plus our followers tend to be intelligent and don't just blindly fall in line behind their leaders, like the Republicans.
Scotch mints libelz!
If the economy DOES collapse you're gonna be grateful for those dead rabbits.
'Did you check in your other uniform?'
Oh, *great*. Hard-right superconservative Merkel, a friend? To the well left of Trump, USA?
I'm still waiting for the US to buy and deploy those tracked maser cannon carriers.
Naw they would just be recording it.

"I could have sworn I had them with me when I left the house this morning."
