For years I've been reminding people that Jesus was a tradesman, work on a construction crew for even a couple hours and ponder that type of animal, etc. etc.
And, yet, I have this random little mutual fund that occasionally earns over $10 in a year that rolls back in that I have to count as a capital gain. I'd get an accountant, but that'd cost a fuckload more than 35% of $10.

Most food in supermarkets is not taxed. "Bad" food to go is taxed - doughnuts. "Good" food to go - bagels and muffins - isn't.
Unless the business calculates most of its sales are taxable - in which case it can collect and remit sales tax on all to go food sales.
Sales taxes, property taxes (though rent at least), Federal and state gasoline taxes, excise taxes on alcohol and tobacco - it's impossible to live in this country and not pay taxes.
Meanwhile, according to that left-wing rag The Wall Street Journal, the 450 richest Americans paid 18% of their income in Federal income taxes.
The bottom 50% can't pay taxes because they aren't making any money.
I was listening to the news on the way home and figured (aka already knew) that the repthugs are playing chicken with the deficit just to shipwreck Obama in '12. And then I read about Walker's fucking with the voters (aka, democrat voters), this shit, and the myriad other Koch driven treason and I have to think, there has to be some kind of documentation somewhere...interoffice memo, email that states unequivocally that the RW is really just trying to fuck things up in a naked grab for power.
