How much time do you think was the right amount of time? It was an emergency room, and the doctor had other patients to treat. The patient got his IV treatment, had the examination and ultrasound, got a prescription and got better.
And that $994 did not all go to the doctor. They probably got about $75. The radiologist who interpreted the ultrasound probably got about the same. The hospital got most of that.
I went ass over teakettle on my bicycle back in my 20s once, broke my collarbone into three pieces and fractured my shoulder blade to boot. I was at the beach with friends, although, of course, none of them were near at the time. Fortunately another vacationer saw my wreck and offered to call an ambulance for me. Since I didn't know the address of the house I was staying in, I had to point it out to the EMTs through the back window of the ambulance as we rode past it.When I got to the hospital, they referred me to a ortho clinic. The hospital security guy got drafted to drive me there -- but he dropped me off at the wrong one, a thing I didn't find out about until long after he was gone. So here I am, wandering up the road wearing nothing but a temporary sling and a pair of shorts, no wallet, trying to find the right clinic. Turns out, "pretty close by" meant about three miles away. Again, fortune came to my aid in that my friends went looking for me and picked me up, telling me I looked like a refugee from a war zone.I sat for an hour in the waiting room and another in a treatment room before the doc finally came in, said, "Yep, it's pretty broken alright." When they put the "pull-your-shoulders-back-to-keep-things-in-place" sling on, I nearly passed out. I was helpfully told that it was the cracked scapula that was probably causing most of the pain. I then had to learn to sleep on my back without moving much for about a month, and for the longest time afterwards, I still woke up every time I rolled over because I had been conditioned to, in order to avoid screaming pain from moving too fast onto the injured shoulder.
That expression! Priceless.

That's all they really care about.

I think negative space trees are cool, but I also spent 300 dollars on a programmable lighting array last month.
Keep spending money on weapons and maybe one day you'll have a decent navy.
That, or you'll bankrupt your country again. That's what I am betting on.
