Reminder that during Trump V1, they took away things from The Troops (like child care and housing allowances and shit) in order to Build Wall. They've already proven they give fuck all for The Troops.
But, how the hell is this possible? Why don't they take some of that contract money instead of taking things from The Troops?
Glad you asked. There are 2 reasons. A: It is un-legal to go back on a contract- that money is already spent and you cannot (or at least, back then, could not) claw it back. Leads us to the second reason B: The only Not Earmarked Positively money is for things like....maintenance and stuff For troops; everything else has to be spent precisely how it was planned to be spent. So buildings, for the troops, do not get fixed (unless they were already part of a project and selected as important years before), and stuff like day care -for the troops- gets shut down.
IE the money for the actual troops is pretty much the only money the military can move around.

On deployment to the Gulf, before a vertrep, the joke was, chicken for the crew, when they'd announce over the 1MC, dinner for the crew. This was because the only thing they had left to serve us was frozen chicken thighs, no salad, maybe some rice and canned vegetables. If these guys aren't even getting chicken, it's bad.
This makes me so angry. I've never been a rah rah military lady because I scorn authority, but I can't even FATHOM putting your life on the line and working under a bunch of evil imbeciles and getting this disrespect in return. I am livid.
Trump, Vance, Hegseth, and the rest of the pathetic Cabinet are so ill-equipped to run the country, we'll be lucky to recognize it in January of 2029. Best of luck to everyone involved.
