Fox News told them that there's almost all sorts of stuff in there that isn't related at all to the pandemic. And therefore, it's just a way to spend all our hard-earned taxpayer money. Nevermind that it still benefits them. They neglected to learn that.

I hope the Dems also have video of Repubs speaking out against the bill. I hope even more that two years from now the bill will have done much good that people will care.

It's partly stupidity, but it is also that the Repubs are extremely good at messaging and controlling their media. Most of it is lies, but if it's all that people hear then it will sound true to stupid people.

"Spending on art museums, you say? Where is that in the bill?"

Let your neighbor own her nonsense. Right now that's the Republican mantra: Too much waste, too much non-Covid related spending in the bill. But what is "unrelated" to the pandemic? People have been badly hurt in so many ways, it's hard to find anything that needs help that can't be attributed in part or in whole to the pandemic.

But for some people, it's better to have their neighbors starve in the street than that one stray extra dollar should slip out of the Treasury into an "undeserving" pocket. And they try to call that Christianity.

I'm afraid that's where she is coming from. So inconsistent with her religion.

Here I am, with no religious affiliation, and I have a lot more care and compassion for others than she does.

This recovery plan is unique in one respect. It will help millions of people who are on the verge of being homeless. It will help people who haven't had job for many months. It will help people who are going hungry.

Those events are pretty hard to forget.

Actually, Cash for Clunkers went over very well. The only people complaining about it - and I crap you negative - were car salesmen (notoriously right wing assholes in their own right) who complained about all the extra paperwork they had to fill out because they were selling so many late model cars to people who wanted to trade in their clunkers.

"Guess we'll find out, won't we. But win or lose, it was still the right thing to do."

As a former R in the land of Budweiser and Rambo known as Ohio doing the right thing is what caused me to ditch the republican party and search for facts, which led me eventually to this site. Forget the "lose" part of the sentence, the victory is here, right has been done. As far as I'm concerned it's time to stand on the gas pedal and let 'er drink. The knuckleheads who have been content to cheer the obstruction along with the various and sundry de-evolution espoused by the republicans can kiss my anal pore on the red.

Sing the praises of this accomplishment until mouth-breather ears bleed and know that while they can and will rationalize the benefits soon to be seen that there are scores of independents and otherwise reasonable people who, in fact, know that a high tide lifts all ships and actually want people to be secure.

Biden has seen this movie before and will have a strategy.

In the men time unleash Garland, unleash the unredacted Mueller Report, etc etc etc. The republicans have been unable to govern for decades, content to shape a narrative whose time has expired. They succeeded for 50+ years to keep us scrambling to make a living, raise a family and all the rest. As creatures of habit we went along with the ruse. That it took a pandemic to wake us up and while watching 100's of thousands of our fellow citizens die needlessly is tragic we can honor their memory by staying on offense. You can only poke a sleeping bear so many times.

Wear your mask, wash your hands, keep your distance for a while longer and get vaccinated. Then, rejoice and get the message out. Smash 'em with the truth and with votes.

Step on the pedal and let 'er drink.

Such a good point. The Arra was basically a bank bailout and did nothing to help people whose homes were under water or were foreclosed due to the criminal actions of the mortgage companies et al. And there were also tax cuts for the wealthy in it. And after all the shit comprises the Dems made, no Repub voted for it. This administration has learned from that and went big and said fuck the Rethugs. It is not up to Dems to justify their support for this but it's up to the thugs to justify their position, which is based on shit. Good luck assholes.

I like your spirit! What the fuck happened to the Democrats in Ohio anyway? Didn't we used to win there sometimes?
