I remember watching as a child, in my bathing suit, did the judiciary committee voting on impeachment for Nixon. And one of the articles was the secret bombing of Cambodia. And I’m sitting there, 11 years old hearing this thinking oh my fucking God (only with less swearing) that he did such a thing. And then they didn’t vote to impeach him for it! It was close but no. Until this scandal that was one of the most stunning moments of political malfeasance I had ever seen in my life.
