This is why my dad blames Rush Limbaugh for corrupting the minds of Iowa’s farmers. He’ll tell you how back in the day, farmers would listen to the radio and get news, weather reports, crop prices, etc. Then, with talk radio, it was listening to hours of conservative bile each day. Iowa used to be purple when I grew up, and now it’s solid red. This is not a coincidence.
If you only get your “news” from one source, your view is going to end up pretty skewed.
Journalism can be free from political bias. Study a group such as F.A.I.R. and you learn there are some points of view (such as a general advocacy for capitalism) but, overall, it is certainly possible to be objective. It takes education and training and experience, but it can be done.
Some years ago I was working at a small bank. I got a call from a gentleman who wanted to purchase an apartment building from one of our borrowers. The borrower had suggested he contact us for a purchase mortgage.
He sent me the rent roll and operating statement our borrower had provided him. Now, as part of our asset review process, we got these every year from our borrowers. And these documents were, let us say, rather aggressive in favor of the owner.
I couldn't tell the guy that, because the information was confidential. But I certainly wasn't going to recommend a loan that didn't make sense. And if we'd taken his application and his money for an appraisal it would have been a total loss for him.
So I just told him "This is going to be a tough loan. A tough, tough loan." He got the hint and went elsewhere.
From January to September 2021, the American economy added almost 5,000,000 jobs. Under the four years of Chump, we lost an average of 69,000 jobs a month.
GNP is well over 6.5% - almost twice Chump's average.
Of course Fox realizes that they have been radicalizing their audience since January of 2009, just look how they project that word about anything they even slightly disagree with. Radical immigration, radical environmental laws, radical taxation, radical school lunch programs. Hell, they cannot even say "The Left" (which is an actual thing to them) without that word chucked in. They have done their job to strip any meaning from that word.
