America is now immunized to Trump-style insurrections for at least 100 years.

I saw him turn into a gimlet- eyed prosecutor in a hearing once. But I guess the rest of his professional life is just a celebration of gormlessness. For the folks.

When is he even faking? Just going to England to study wouldn't remove your Southern accent. Hm-- that's more than enough about him.

Nothing in the brief filed has anything that could be remotely considered factual. Yes, there is abuse in jails & prisons. But nothing stated passes the smell test.

IF--big if here--she had some injury, which is the claim, w/o saying how said injury came to be, she would've been driven the 1/2 mile to the public hospital, like every other person booked at MCJ is if they have a medical situation.

I could call people I know in the Dayton PD, the Sheriff's Dept, a half dozen or 30 lawyers I know, three or four judges...to get their opinion on whether this sounds like SOP at MCJ. I just don't think it's based in reality.

Though to be fair, being cisgender should also get you decent treatment and personal safety in prison.

There is a point missing from this. You’re in a militia, you know you’re a lawbreaker. Sure, you believe your lawbreaking is justified, what criminal doesn’t? When her lawyer says she wasn’t trying to overthrow the government but support the LAWFUL government that means she was engaging in insurrection. Sure Trump told them where and when as well as whipping up a frenzy for months, but she knows she was doing a fascist coup. She’s pretending like she doesn’t to avoid legal sanction.

They know perfectly well what they did and how illegal it was. They are just fibbing for the law courts.

The other component to my nature-hating country neighbors is righteous indignation about anything that contradicts their views. They are full of bravado, but actually are deeply insecure. We manage to coexist on most levels, mainly because I strategically evade certain topics when I see them sliding into them. They will lie to your face, poorly, like a child caught with their hand in the cookie jar, and expect me to smile and make them feel good about it. And they have seen me lose my shit only once, which gave me the opportunity to tell them I’m very ‘sensitive’ about animals, and that it would be in their best interest to accommodate that.

I’ve offered to help with the chickens, and also point out when I see something is wrong. I’ve never had chickens myself, but fucking google right? And if one gets sick, you risk the flock if you don’t deal with it. She is dismissive of it and takes it personal that I’m bringing it up... it’s all about her. When I explain how basic nature functions, she generally answers by pointing out that she doesn’t like something, for instance, half the food chain. Her comfort is clearly her priority. Her husband died a few months ago, and despite that they both held similar views, he was more adaptable to outside stuff and more involved in the chickens, and property maintenance. She is the picky one. She has told me that the chickens were his thing, despite that I know he got them at her request, and that she holds onto them because they were his. They are basically egg producing items for nostalgia.

I have limits. At the moment I’ve reached the avoid seeing it stage. But planting season is on its way and soon I will see the chickens every day. She won’t have enough fortitude to back me up if I’m witnessing neglect every day. I would rather alienate her than accept it. I can’t fix stupid, but I can scare it into containment.

This is why I've made up my mind to rent-- so I don't have to fight the fights I always got into. I have had some luck with knowing city codes when other people don't, but it sometimes works just to make these maniacs self-conscious about what they're doing. You might bring some important- looking men along to stand and look over the property line while you gesture with the chicken wire in your hand. But usually it's just so bad. I'm sorry you've got this unfortunate old creep beside you. Just be glad it isn't dogs and horses over there, they're so much harder not to see.
