Wow. The judge had him cuffed and said “go to directly to jail” like Householder was a common criminal or something.

I just hope it holds up on appeal. The Supreme Court has made it so that, to be convicted of bribery, you have to be caught on video being handed a big sack of money with a cartoon dollar sign on it while saying, “I am accepting this bribe for the express purpose of doing favors for you that involve an official act of my office.”

Since corporations are people, my friend, First Energy should get 20 years in prison for the same crime.

At minimum, they should have to give the $1 billion back on top of the fine.

Question: if the feds can seize an old lady’s house because her grandson was dealing weed out of the basement, why can’t they seize the $1 billion bailout money as fruits of the crime?

Politicians can be convicted for bribery?? But ... without the bribery, kickbacks, and grifting, what's the point of even running for office?!?

Disappointing that it has nothing to do with tennis or pickle-ball, though.

Larry will have a handball partner in the big house. His partner in crime got a 5 year sentence today. Cuffed and sent straight to the prison bus, same as Larry. I wonder if any of their experience in conventional politics will help them in the world of prison politics they are about to encounter?

I can't wait to see this scene repeated in Texas for our own crooked Ken Paxton.

It was a good deal, except for those meddling kids!

And good for you on that!

For me, it's the Ducks Unlimited ballcap with the suit. Just zero class. Or maybe it's product placement? A whole new grift.

Ohio Republicans didn't have shit to do with this. The FBI was his downfall.

Let's not forget that the Ohio legislature recently passed a law banning August elections because the low turnout and proximity to the November general election didn't justify the cost of a special election at that time. They had to pass a new law rescinding the first law.

Both of these laws, it should be noted, passed with strong support in Republican-majority legislatures.

It also gave us Robert Taft, Jr., grandson of a president and supreme court justice and son of a U. S. Senator who was known as Mr. Conservative in the Republican Party.

Jr. made history as the first sitting Governor to be indicted and convicted of a crime. He failed to report a golf trip from a donor, appeared in court, pled No Contest, got his wrists slapped.

That's it, only on the state level. Think stupid Newt Gingrich.
