Image by Rico Smith Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin faced off against her Democratic opponent, some guy, last night in a Lincolnesque triumph of rhetoric and philosophy. Also, she was pretty dumb. Here, let's look at what she had to say about whether the oil and gas industry is causing the rash of earthquakes rattling those poor dumb Okies:
"Local control" is the 21st century version of "pass the buck".
"No, see if *I* raise taxes then I will get all the Tea Party people protesting me. But if I put it on the school board, then when they ask for the tax increase I can attack them for being a bunch of liberal pansies."
That paragraph was actually brilliant, for a republican. It almost sounds like something a child would write - they impress me more and more all the time.
"A tornado is a violently rotating column of air that is in contact with both the surface of the earth and a big mean cloud. They are often referred to as twisters or cyclones. We Oklahomans pay attention to these, when they happen."
"I asked 'what can your office do to mitigate the effect of monstrous tornadoes on the cities of Oklahoma.' Care to answer that?"
"That is an excellent question. Oklahoma is the 20th most extensive and the 28th most populous of the 50 United States. The state's name is derived from the Choctaw words okla and humma, meaning "red people". It is also known informally by its nickname, The Sooner State."

Are you supposed to throw home-made bombs at tornadoes to blow them apart, or is that just sharknadoes?

Tornadoes are not just disheartening, they suck.
In the event she gets her own tee-vee show, I may be tempted to sponsor The Fartknocker Fallin Failing Report on the Wonkette Channel.
