But even the enlightened ones should not get to dictate curriculum. Now, as a former teacher in the public system in CA I cannot say I am thrilled with how things are, but having parents determine how teaching ought to be done addresses none of my concerns.

I totally don't give a shit about anyone's "beliefs", "sincerely held" or not. A belief is simply an opinion one refuses to change. No public policy should be based on opinions. If so then my SHB that guns owners be registered and liable for any damage caused by their weapons would hold some sway.
