And California has enough homeless people.

Ya know, it's pretty alright if the history books are 10-15 years old. You don't want school districts coughing up $$$$ for a new set of books every two or three years. And from what I recall of history class in my school daze, you never got all the way to the end anyways.

What really is unconscionable is the *condition* of those books. Jeez, do you really WANT to look like you're from a Third World country?

Non-Christian Sharia Education is the enemy of fascism, according to most red state legislatures' ethos, as well as Betsy DeVos, apparently. DeVos is doing to Education what Pruitt is doing to the EPA, Carson is doing to HUD, Zinke is doing to Interior, Nilsson is doing to DHS, Sessions is doing to DoJ, old crank is doing to Labor, Mulvaney is doing to the consumer protection bureau, Mnuchin is doing to Treasury. I note a pattern. Silver lining: most seem to be helping out the private jet business. So while Trump deploys troops, and rants about China, his storm troopers are busy.

OK sales tax and tax on food now adds up to about 10%. The main turnpikes have tolls. A larger hotel tax would just be another reason to go straight thru OK. A gambling tax is dumb. Visitors can go a lot of other places. These are band aid solutions at best.

Of course they are band-aids, and they won't have any other options until the insane law requiring the supermajority to raise taxes is repealed.

Is Stoops still getting money from Arizona?

That Angus, he's an old-school good man. Kinda guy gives Maine a good name. The clashes between him and LePage have been epic.

Are you referring to the lone-wolf outlier person of european descent who was facing some life challenges?

I doubt the internet tax would work in OK. It is a poor state, and I doubt that the people that need to save money are willing or even able to cough up another $50 million in taxes.

Right? Soon Africa will start sending pallets of books to US

Ya' know, he's the guy that wrote that song 'bout his dog, his pickup truck, and his girl. And beer.

The key is also "good shape." Those books are not in "good shape."

So, it's Oklahoma! Not-OK, now, right?

Every month, The Shul of New York collects items for a different charity. This month, it's books for kids (and young adults) who get their medical care at The Floating Hospital, which provides it free. The kids are encouraged to pick books from the waiting room to take with them when they leave.

Maybe one of these months we should collect textbooks for Oklahoma schools.

Oh I don’t know, that sign may have been at a trump rally. They just wouldn’t have been going for a play on words, just an outright misspelling that their pea brains didn’t catch.
