Signs you never saw at a Trump rally, part CCLXIV The Democratic leadership in Congress has a pretty timely idea: How about we roll back last year's big fat tax cuts for the very richest of rich fuckwads and use that money to improve teacher pay and fix up our public schools?
Idiots. I mean, they're not Beanie Babies, they don't even have any intrinsic value.Though I might pick one up on the secondary market once the price drops to something rational. Like $2.
What if we funded enough psychotherapists in every school to provide counseling for every kid who wants or needs it? We talk about mental health being the problem in school shootings, but what are we doing to improve the mental health of students?
I'd call it an excellent start too. Especially considering how badly the Republican Party clearly wants an ignorant, superstitious electorate. Must figure voters like that are more likely to vote for them no matter how they get fucked over.
Giving them longer school days, more state/fed tests, talking about keeping them in school during summer, allowing hazing and bullying and just paying lip service to doing something about it, giving them school "counselors" or deans who have no accreditation in counseling. That's what we're doing!
Wow! You met Molly Ivins! I would love to have met her, she was a person you'd want to sit on a front porch with and talk. I wanted to meet Ann Richards, also too. She was a sass-master.
Gotta disagree on #4. Illinois already pays more for gasoline than any other state. I would re-instate the 91% top marginal tax rate on the uber wealthy. Worked in Eisenhower's day. The economy always seems to work better when the rich are taxed half to death.
I met her during a publicity tour thing at some bookstores in Houston, after 'You gotta dance with them that brung ya' got published. A very warm, kind, funny and quick witted person, The world was a little less bright in her passing.
Don't disagree about the top tax rate personally, though I worry that any increase in Income Tax will be hard to get through congress, even with a Dem majority in both houses... but I still think gas tax is needed if only to stop the continual cycle of rejecting hybrid/electric vehicles due to relatively low gas prices. $4.00/gallon would be a good thing for the country if the increase is due to taxes in my opinion...
I reject hybrid/electric vehicles because they're S-L-O-W, unless you've got at least a 100K to buy a top of the range performance model, they have limited range and battery life, the batteries are incredibly expensive to replace, last about 7 years, and occasionally catch on fire.
$4.00 a gallon isn't good for someone who has an older whoopdie they need to get back and forth to work in. Minimum wage ain't going to buy you a Leaf or a Prius.

Bet a nickel that he saw it spelled that way on some RWNJ's sign.

As a SpEd teacher, I can guarantee you special education is not funded adequately AT ALL.
We are Groot!
Hey, you're talking about most of the idiots in my family... oh, nevermind.

And we get killed by Cain every time.

Also, "discomfort" is suffered by patients. Doctors have "pain."
