Having lost the Civil War, they seem determined to make the North regret winning it.

Much as I admire that song as a piece of music, it'd be nice to think that one day it'll be as incomprehensible as "Sumer Is Icumen In".

Worked out so well for that Koresh guy and the Confederate army.

you know i'm really happy to see bamz getting all executive-ordery and stern, but honestly today has made me want to crawl back under the covers.

instead i'm just listening to hendrix which is not at all my usual choice but seems kinds appropriate.

The Army and Air Force won't get involved, so these fools are only up against the ATF and FBI swat teams, and maybe some low-profile DHS outfits we've never heard of. Still, I'm pretty sure they'd be badly outgunned, which is the most embarassing thing imaginable for gun nutz. (If they're assholish enough to draw the attention of the National Guard, of course, it only gets worse.)

We have met the enemy and he is us. Or she is. Actually, they are.

Gaaah - just got one of those stupid guntard chain letters from one of my otherwise sane clients. It's a collection of libertarian-flavored Thomas Jefferson quotations, generously salted with totally bogus "quotations" that make Jefferson sound like an NRA public relations flack.

Having old Tom on your side is always good, but what happens when you find out that Jefferson didn't actually support your position? You cook up fake quotes and pass 'em off as Jefferson's.

These people are dishonest on every level - and ignorant to boot: Madison wrote the Bill of Rights. (Jefferson was in France at the time, and gun rights were distinctly absent from the suggestions he provided.)

Tennessee doesn't deserve Memphis and none of us deserve fools like this ass.

Joe has proposed a bill that would have Federal agents arrested for enforcing laws. I think I need some magic mushrooms to help me understand this perpetual arresting.
