I'd love to know the mechanism by which formerly intelligent writers/ journalists switch to the Dark Side seemingly overnight. Is it greed? (We know the Far-Right has deep pockets.) Is it due to threats (That can get really frightening.) Do right-wing operatives slip them a mind-control drug?

Or they construct a critical frame of reference/analysis that used to produce useful critiques, but are partially based on some faulty premise, that over time magnifies errors in analysis to complete lunacy.

I too have seen fewer cars in line in coffee shops and in stores. There was a guy who accidentally drove his car through a Burger King wall and took out an unoccupied booth but that was pre-covid.
I’ve worked in a more or less specialty retail store since August 2022. And every day or two we see pregnant people, particularly those that want to put a fetal heartbeat in a stuffed animal. Hell, even my old boss—all five foot nothing of her—was heavily pregnant, WITH TWINS, which was why she had to leave.
As for the drugs, though? Uh…a number of people are all too happy to just puff on the debbil’s lettuce at the bus stops here. I prefer to do that on my secluded balcony at home.
Did these people consider the fact that maybe they're seeing less people, partly due to the fact that anti vax and anti mask idiots straight up killed a bunch of their neighbors? If these people could still grasp irony, their heads would explode instantly.
