Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, the asset stripper, slum landlord, and all-around Friend of Wall Street, is up to his beady little eyeballs in this USPS scandal. He put major pressure on the USPS board to bring in DeJoy and to conceal relevant background information from Democrats in Congress. Allies of Mnuchin's (in exchange for large donations to Republicans) are among those profiting from the sub-contracts awarded by DeJoy.

The Mafia would be ashamed to be caught acting this much like the Mafia, right out in public, for the world to see.

And $1.24 for paying your bill over the phone. Virginia Power uses this to make it easier for all involved. They outsource their customers payments to a private bill payment company. And why do we get a nearly $4 charge to withdraw money from ATMs not in the Direct Express SSDI payment system? Not everyone has an in network ATM near them. Acceptance of that card should be universal. We pay to access our money and we pay to use our money. They hit you coming and going.

Have these people ever been in a fucking Post Office? Every place I've lived has a post office that is basically a hallway filled with PO boxes connecting to the lobby. There's like one other room, and that is where they take the passport photos. The rest of the building is where they do all the actual work of sorting and delivering mail. They plan on squeezing a bank teller....where?

In my life time, I have gone from an all cash income and payment system to a nearly all innertubewebz, no cash system. I even, now only write one check a month, for rent. The manager says they will have a digital option some day. Seemingly, the virus will push that forward, as sliding checks under the door of a closed office, with no receipt, seems a bit sketchy. But whaddo I know.

That being said, a lot of people aren't able to live like this. They need something. As many are poor, they need it free or very, very low cost. Post Offices are everywhere. Makes sense to me.

I dunno, but I seen fancy, schmanzie ATMs that will do everything but feed the dog.

it would be a shame if people went all those chase ATMs in post offices and put cards in that were covered in glue so chase would have to pay for repairs on the machines all the time and lose money on this deal.

my local one a is bit bigger, they might be able to do like Safeway and some other groceries do and squeeze a person in with a safe in, but it would be really tight. it would be a fresh kind of hell to try to fix every problem that needs a human by phone, on the people using the service AND the one on the other end. a real twofer of shit

there are some phone apps that pretend they are banks too, but for instance where I live no matter how much I try to sell them on it they wont even do Paypal or any kind of on-line payments, so it has to be cash or a check, and if you don't have a checking account, well money orders are the best (I don't trust landlords so for me cash is out of the question)

3 grand kids have bank phone apps and are happy with them. Of course, they all still live at home.

No telling how much of it was for public show vs genuine, but they seemed genuinely warm and friendly to each other at the debates (when not, you know, debating). I have to think they've spent some quality time working together in the senate, and it helps that they're both awesome.

Keep Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, put Elizabeth Warren in charge of the senate (majority leader), Kamala Harris as VP, and Joe as President, and we could get some Real Good Shit done.

New Zealander here. Check out how our publicly-owned "postal banking" scheme has operated. Summary: pretty good. It makes a small profit and is the only NZ owned major bank. https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

Well, sure. Obviously universal health care can't work here.

I'd like to change our motto, please.
