Unfortunately, voting third party does nothing to push democrats to the left. It helps elect reactionary fascists like Trump or LaPage, which only convinces democrats they have to move further right to appeal to those working class whites they lost decades ago to the Southern Strategy and an ever more radicalized NRA.

Obviously, so we hold our nose and vote yet again for the 'Lesser Evil', hoping against hope to some day at least be able to vote for 'Not Evil' (since 'Good Intentioned' is not in the cards.)

The one good thing I can say about the race is that it's refreshing to see an all-female line-up for the Governorship. The one bad thing (among many) is that two of the candidates are whackaloon cuckoo fuck bonkers.

Tina needs to keep upping her game if she's going to secure her seat. The tendency with three-ways is to go hard for "the middle" whatever that is, in hopes of securing those fantasy "independent" votes. With the Overton window shifted so far to the right it's rubbing shoulders with fascism, this is a losing strategy. Make better cases for why and how liberal, democratic policies benefit ALL Oregonians, even the ones who are happy to vote against their interests if they think they'll get a charge from fucking over somebody more vulnerable from them.

Unfortunately, because politics is what it is, Tina also suffers from a "charisma" problem, that aspect may be insurmountable, but her opponents are horrid beasts so comparatively she's a rockstar.

Thanks for keeping us informed in your indomitable style, Stephen!!!

Also, Republicans make a point of linking even the most banal Democrat with the supposed extremists, esp. the Squad. Drazan and Johnson seem "normal" and Kotek hasn't done a great job painting them as extremists in the Greene/Boebert mold.

Yeah, and according to The O, the Big Business funded candidate Gonzales is ahead of Hardesty in the polls in PDX. Do people in the city REALLY think that the real estate and investment tycoons need to have 4 out of 5 seats on the city council? WTF is wrong here?

Oh we're involved, believe me, but Central, Southern and Eastern Oregon (and parts of the Willamette Valley)... "These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know ... morons." [Gene Wilder, "Blazing Saddles"] These ignorant folks are desperately clinging to their Wild West guns and religion attitudes and values and are rabid about it. And they *will* vote. Closest place we have to Blue in those parts of the state is Bend, and we're purple at best. Getting real tired of dodging beater pickups with all their Gadsden, Trump, "Fuck Biden" and 'Murican flags flying.

Yes, they got hammered. They're 2 hours north of us, so we really just got the edge of the hurricane, while they got the brunt of it. The only good thing is that we're a lot more populous, so if the hurricane had hit here, a lot more people would have gotten the shaft. Big sigh of relief on my part.

I hear ya, I was just in E OR with a buddy (near the Steens) for a birthday camp out and it’s definitely the Land of The Lost politically speaking. I just am not ready to concede one square inch to these fuckwits! Courage!
