I don't know about Macs, but one of the first things I did on my PC was turn off spellcheck. Spellcheck has an insufficient vocabulary and doesn't know words I use regularly.
Current Republican wisdom is that "Republican" is the neutral, natural, base ideology. So "compromise" means "everyone else does what we want" and "bias" means "anything you do/say/feel that doesn't align with what we do/say/feel". It's not scary or infuriating at all!
Obviously I'm going to vote yes on the ballot measures that punish walkouts, but I would also vote yes on a cap and trade measure. And while Oregon does have its fair share of assholes and distracted twits who could be easily swayed by enough negative advertising from Big Pollution, we also have a great many tree huggers and endangered owl snugglers. So many, in fact, we have to take turns snuggling the owls.
So if more Dems were elected which would mean fewer Rs, would that not solve the problem? Maybe that's the answer, instead trying to pass a law that the Rs would run out on again.
Long term vision seems to require education and engaging with the needs of others. I lived among commercial fishermen in Southwest Florida back in the 1970s. They would happily take every last fish (often whether they could sell it or not) of a given species (grouper, snapper, redfish, you name it. Elementary school dropouts who shot ospreys for fun.
In the end, it took a heavily financed effort by sportfishermen and the tourist industry to rein them in. It took years for the king mackerel to recover.
Wow, someone else knows Oregon's governors' histories down to the useless trivia better than I do. I was a wee babe and had only just moved to Oregon a year before when McCall left office, so you probably have me on McCall trivia, but I specifically left out a rug reference when mentioning Atiyeh because I didn't think anyone was likely to get it. I mean, I can't believe I remember that.

I immediately noticed the poor vocabulary when my mac thought I had misspelled "dildonic".
You just canute get a republican elected official to think rationally.
The Texas walk out led to the famous Tom DeLay "show Jesus' love" mugshot. https://uploads.disquscdn.c...
Just change the rules to cut out legislators who skip out on their elected duty, and don't pay their asses as well.

The last paragraph gives one hope. For change.

Again with other people remembering the rug store. I really expected to be the only one.
