The thing is, with global climate change all our kids really are in danger. With the attacks on reproductive health care, all our daughters are in danger.
Congress already has the right and duty to regulate guns and militia. The legal definition of 'militia' has not changed in 300 years.Congress reaffirmed that in 1903 when they passed the Dick Act, rejecting unorganized armed individuals in favor of the National Guard.Armed civilians playing at war usually are hung as spies. War has rules.
Sure looks like they're counting on Dems and independents doing nothing in the wake of their coup-adjacent behavior, and that everyone will still respect the terrible SCOTUS decisions.
I've left. I wanted to be a teacher since I was 5 and knew what one was. I spent a decade loving my job, and the two years after that hating most of it. The students were never the problem.
I hurt my back at the end of year 12. I planned to return in the fall.
That summer, anxiety built up to a point that I was fighting panic attacks every time I even thought about school.
When the diagnosis came that my back was never going to heal enough to walk around all day or sit for hours reading essays, I was so relieved I started bawling.
Looking at how much worse it's been these last few years, I wouldn't go back now for any amount of money, even if I physically could.
The anti-intellectualism of this Right was well-developed when I stepped away and the attack on teachers is only escalating.
Note, however, that the bullies are often armed. I don't think a lot of these folks signed up for gunfire. I didn't expect a gun-wielding MAGAT to threaten one of my neighbors who volunteered with the school her own kids attended. The most I would have done is call police and hope they could be trusted.
It doesn't make the people stupid to do this, it just makes them happy to see these educated guys taken down a peg. That must be why RW's believe or pretend to believe or just want to believe stories that are deeply ridiculous.
You're right. Of all people, drag queens are so sophisticated about themselves and gender and self-discipline by the time they're drag queens-- whereas these priests and pastors usually only have lived by repression-- and that provides none of those tools. It only lets them lie to themselves, apparently.
Ah, yes, the Nazis. One of the people whose books they burned was Einstein, on the grounds that Relativity was a Jewish lie. And then there was the Catholic Church and Galileo. Not only did he narrowly escape being burned, and spend the rest of his days under house arrest, but his work was placed on the Church's index of forbidden books that no good Catholic could read. And it wasn't taken off until the early 19th century.I say ban the Bible! Not just the Old Testament, but the New as well (Saint Paul, politically truckling to the Roman Empire) supported slavery. And the Book of Revelation is a sadistically psychotic LSD trip.
My oath! Yes! Those two charming inquisitors Sprenger and Kramer (15th century, I think) who wrote that delightful book on interrogating witches, the Malleus Malefic-arium, were very definite that women, because their moral sense was inferior, were more susceptible to the lures of Satan than men. They closed their argument with the deathless words, "To conclude. All witchcraft comes from carnal lust, which is in women insatiable."They wished, no doubt.

"local police are investigating the shot fired into her yard"
I'm sure they're giving it their top priority ...
Depends on the color of your skin

A very expensive private school in my area was rocked by YEARS of abuse unfolding finally.
Private schools don't get the supervision public schools do.
Hey, don't worry!
