DO NOT pin him on us! Born in the USof A (I think Missouri- figures) and spent maybe 5 years of his life here, but at least 25 in Hawaii.

Oh, I'm pleased. But it took a pretty amazing level of insanity to get this done. Reid is no Master of the Senate, and we've lost a very large number of judicial appointments over the past 5 years. I doubt Obama will get them all filled even if he moves incredibly fast, which he sure hasn't done so far.

Emphasis on the word "finally."

I call bullshit. Nickelback's never been the target of an anti-heavy metal & Satanism campaign orchestrated by wingnut preachers. Their name means: "Anti-Christ/Devil's Children." And the little lightening bolt in the middle was a Nazi S.S. symbol.

As usual.

I don't think it came out of nowhere. He should have threatened the nucular option after the first judge was voted down. He waited til the third one was, which is ridiculous.

Now I really want to watch that Chapelle skit about the blind black white supremacist...

I certainly hope so. The thing about all the "Harry hath no balls" commentary that is so popular various places (like Wonket), is, IMO, that Reid has resisted making sweeping changes in Senatorial privilege because he personally believes that it is a good-ish thing -- "greatest deliberative body", blahblahblah. Also, to force a change, either at the beginning of a session, or now, he needs to have the support of very nearly 100% of the Dem members, and not all of them are wildly in favor of sweeping changes.

What I hope is that he (and his colleagues) have finally realized that the Republican abuse of holds and filibusters is not going to stop. Ever. They've gotten too used to it. It's become "normalized".

I really hope he doesn't settle for another deal, because that will just further normalize blanket obstruction as a legitimate negotiating tool.
