It is like watching your brain damaged 11 year old nephew repeatedly smashing his head into the wall because he has no other way to handle reality. A line of bright red blood is slowly winding its way down past his right eyebrow and you know that there is nothing you can do to help. The most you can do for him is wait for him to cool down and care for his wounds. Every bad day he has you wonder if this is a life worth living, but you remember the good days he used to have. Has it really been so many months, nay years! since you last saw him smile? There is nothing you can do about it though, you are not his next of kin, you are not his guardian. His bible thumping parents have complete legal control and so far nothing you have done has had any kind of effect. Sometimes you think you suffer more than he does, not one of his caretakers is unbruised, some are even hospitalised. But what are you going to do? What can you do?!
