Besides their concerns about Pancholy, some board members also noted the district’s policy about not hosting overtly political events, news outlets reported. The policy was enacted after the district was criticized for hosting a rally by Donald Trump during his 2016 campaign for president.

Mark Blanchard, the district superintendent, and nine other senior leaders – including assistant superintendents and district-level directors of technology, curriculum, legal affairs, human resources, student services and special education – sent a letter to the board, faculty and staff on Thursday asserting that Pancholy’s speech should have been allowed.

The my central MN hometown elected a guy who campaigned on the "litterboxes in classrooms" bullshit to the school board.

My school board is a bunch of idiots who could not piss their way out of a tissue-paper bag.

That's my view from having served 25 years in the district.

“Again, it’s not discriminating against his lifestyle, that’s his choice, but it’s him speaking about it. He did say that that’s not the topic, but that’s what his books are about.”

Are we still doing this “lifestyle” “choice” bullshit? Is this lady allowed to talk about her lifestyle choice of being a straight lady?

On May 17, an attorney for the Independence Law Center emailed a nearly 500-word speech to the Red Lion Area School Board’s president praising the anti-LGBTQ+ policies the elected officials would consider the next day.

Board President Stephen Simpson read the statement, nearly verbatim, shortly before voting on the policies drafted by the right-wing, Christian law firm on May 18 last year.

Notably, one of the few changes Simpson made to the speech was to remove a sentence about how proud he was of the policies.

"Well sure, your gay lifestyle people may say they won’t talk to middle schoolers about Judy Garland"

Oh, sure, how do you know the first part of his lesson won't be to teach those tender little minds to respond, "Went the trolley!" if someone says, "Clang clang clang!"? After that, it's showtunes galore, then Little League is replaced by Little Theatre, the drama club will cancel "Our Town" in favor of "Spring Awakening", and the Spring Fling Dance in the gym gets changed to Leather Night at the Eagle.

Also, jokes from "Cap'n Billy's Whiz-Bang" and knickerbockers buckled below the knees.
