"Almost a cop! Almost a cop! Almost a cop..."

That's not true here at UT (UT System, actually). They go through the same police academy training as other police officers.

Here’s some straight talk for young people: Go with the data analysis and just bore people to death rather than shoot them. If you’re going to get an advanced degree and then have to take minimum wage adjunct jobs, just work at Starbucks, that way is less humiliating.

If it doesn't have a staff bathroom I'd hate to see the state of their break room.

You could conceivably call it that, but families stick pretty closely together out there. And people get along better in general.

It depends on the college/university. When I attended college our campus police force was the equivalent of a municipal police force, with the ability to arrest people and everything. One reason that they were a full police force was that the main campus had property in 3 towns and a parcel in an unincorporated part of the county, plus a medical school on another campus. They didn't want to get into a situation where they weren't sure who had authority (and this was in St. Louis, so technically St. Louis County sheriff deputies don't have authority in the City of St. Louis, because that's not part of St. Louis County). They also didn't want to have to deal with cops who wouldn't ignore underage drinking or recreational drug use. I know that I flagged down campus cops when I was too drunk to walk well and they always got me home safely.(They were REALLY serious about defending their turf, and always wanted any other agency to coordinate with them if they were executing a warrant or something. One time they busted a pot dealer, at an off-campus apartment, but the evidence used for the probable cause was a package that was sent to his campus mailbox. Because the local police had not coordinated with the campus police, the university and the campus police were miffed, to the point where the university helped the kid with his defense and he got it knocked down to just a possession charge, which is pretty good for a couple pounds of weed.)

I gave it a downfist to screw up your data. I'm in a cranky mood today for no good reason. :)

And you probably get some free coffee.

Don't know where you live but our police department is better trained than your average city police department. Much more civilized too.

"You won’t find thrills like that in data analysis, we can assure you."

If we did allow comments, that would have been an outstanding thread.

Well, really to be fair in the Tensing matter, DuBose was proven to be a habitual user of MARIJUANA! and, also, this was in Cincinnati where the veterans of the Waffen SS went to retire.

To paraphrase Apocalypse Now, making marijuana arrests on a college campus is like giving speeding tickets at the Indy 500.

Yeah I went to Binghamton, which is a state school. Because it was a state school, the campus cops were actual state troopers.
