I got to pet one of those (black jag or panth, IDK) in the youth of my madness. It was large puppy age and I was most impressed by that long thick tail. Mrooowww!!

I believe it was Ogden Nash who wrote a very short poem:

"When called by a panther,

Don't anther."

Don't caress the weasel

And don't fall too soon

Don't seek the blood from the panther

We have micropanthers, AKA domestic shorthair black cats. The older one (10 years this past weekend) is just over seven lbs; the other might be 10lbs but is too fierce to pick up.

Those two are AWWWW-some!

"Now THIS is a good pitch. You're sitting down, right? Okay. Here it is. Are you ready? Ready. Okay. Picture it. A remake of "Cat People' using twin black panther kittens. It'll have a 'Dead Ringers' quality AND be kid-friendly. Whaddya think, hunh? Is this genius or what? Wait! Where are you going?"

Adorable baby murder kittens.

I'm recopying my comment that I posted on your Substack, Martini:

The twins are adorbs! Wakanda Forever (tips hat to the late Chadwick Boseman). Every time I go through my streaming channels I'll stop on a favorite movie and pick it up where it is. On Saturday it was "Marshall" with the late, great Chadwick Boseman. Colorectal cancer cheated us of having Mr. Boseman be able to continue to portray Thurgood Marshall when he argued against segregation in the Brown v. Board of Education, Topeka Kansas cases before the Supreme Court in 1954 and when Mr. Marshall became the first African-American supreme court justice. Cancer effing sucks.

Back when I was a patient navigator and conducting group education, the untimely death of Chadwick Boseman gave me an in to convince reluctant clients on the benefits of colonoscopy. IMHO, it was the only good thing to come out of his death.

That’s fun, pulling a strip of paper in front of cats… more fun with packing tape.

(Actual) Big Head Todd libelz!

He was a student of my brother's. Sometimes class would be excused so they could all go see him and the Monsters play live on campus.

Also Todd's Asian, so shouldn't be grouped in with the white supremacists.

I hadn't noticed Dora Alcover's project till now, or I'd have sent it a few groats.

Good on her.

I tried writing this in my old high school French, but after sixty-odd elapsed years, I'm no longer fluent.

Local municipalities are cancelling flock contracts and trying to get rid of flock cameras. Why does everything have to be awful?

Martin sucks. He's not at the DNC to fight. He's not there to get creative. He's there to do the same old boring white guy things that all the old boring white guys at the DNC want to do. Anything else scares the crap out of them.

Someone here said the biggest problem with the Democratic Party is that they think the Progressive wing of their party if a greater danger to the country than fascism.

devourerofpancakes's avatar

Well, it's a greater danger to something ... their power? Their funders?

Sounds like that sitcom Seinfeld and Costanza were pitching.

SAN FRAN (Nov. 30):

I think I know what and where you mean but if you wish to endear yourself to the denizens out there, never abbreviate "San Francisco" in word or print. "San Fran" will mark you as an auslander and even buying a round of drinks won't save you. Saying "Frisco", except with direct reference to passing railroad boxcar, will reactivate the Committee of Vigilance, risking you tar and feathers. For brevity , you can simply say "The City" anywhere in California and the cognoscenti will nod knowingly. To be colorful, refer to "Baghdad by the Bay" and they will reminisce with you at length about Herb Caen, possibly even Emperor Norton. A wave of the hand and a terse "East Bay" will handily cover everything beyond Treasure Island at least as far as Dublin.

Sallyfemina's avatar

Frisco is a suburb in Texas, nowhere near the lovely Bay.

innocentbystander's avatar

So.: "Frisco, Texas". It figgers.
