They assume the worst about everyone who isn't them.

This a thousand times. We are asked to assume the best of the police and give them all the benefits of doubt while they are doing the exact opposite to the rest of society.

Fun story from the early days of the TEA Party.

Co-worker’s kids noticed teabags plastered all over the place. “Hey mom—what’s with the tea bags?” they asked. Mom explained. Kids reacted squeefully upon seeing a tea bag after that fateful day.

My perspective is so affected by the past 11 days that in the context of a video on the Lafeyette Park violence, I interpreted that as saying that everyone should protect themselves against tear gas.

That seems a bit too much, I thought. Even in Portland you're not seeing cops gas the grocery stores. It can't be worse in DC or I'd know about it, right?

I'm telling you, it's not just being at the protests, it's the constant, circling helicopters and so many other little things. This shit is scary, so scary it changes how you think.

It's somewhat distressing to acknowledge that I was around for the intro of the Edsel. Even then, while Ford hoped that the design would be considered to be innovative and bold, it was widely considered to be ugly and odd. I remember the horse collar comments, but I may have been a bit young to absorb the more risqué evaluations.
