Mr. Goon has been on Medicare for some time. Medicare is thrifty--it limits charges quite aggressively, down to amounts that don't look completely ridiculous. I understand when doctors say they don't make money on Medicare patients. But it is a wonder; medical care is provided reasonably affordably when people tend to need it most.
Fucking with Medicare availability is an evil, evil idea. Politicians who seriously propose it need to be politely voted out of office. Or whatever measures it takes to stop them.
I was in one of Ryan's vaunted "high risk pools" --- sky high premiums, high deductibles, lousy coverage until the ACA kicked in and my premium dropped by 2/3. Nothing new here from the widow peak guy but the same old shit, just perfumed and wrapped up in a shiny new box
The only reason Ryan has a reputation as a policy wonk is because he goes around telling everyone he's a policy wonk. He spends more time talking about what a "numbers guy" he is than actually going over numbers. He's been playing this game for years now. Remember in 2012 when he was running for VP, he kept BSing his way through interviews? He would insist that his numbers add up, that everything was "revenue neutral" but you had to take his word for it because he refused to show his work. Every time, it's the same crap from him. Lots of promises that he's got some great plan, but ask him for the details later.
And sadly, our "liberal media" keeps letting him get away with it.
The #1 one feature that makes this plan attractive to Rethuglicans: it's not called "Obamacare".The thought that that name is going to stick, perhaps forever, drives them fucking insane.
