They didn't have the votes. In regular session this bill needed 2/3 to pass. That's why they called the special session, it allowed them to change the requirement. They've been cheating the whole time

They also can probably reintroduce it as a non filbusterable bill in the new session

As I've been saying to people, I actually kinda find it refreshing that she actually admitted that, yeah, she's said the word. Because "Oh my, I never!" makes me much madder than admitting it. It's being disingenuous. But this really isn't about her just saying the n-word, even if that's what the media make it sound like. Just glance at a story about that lawsuit, and a whole house of horrors comes tumbling out. Her and her family are terrible, terrible people. And her interviews and "People are jus' JEALOUS!" and "Well THOSE PEOPLE say it all the time! Why can't I?!" just compounds it.

I thought the acting head whose resignation he accepted was a Bush appointee filling in for the other Bush appointee who'd already quit and who was actually head at the time the "inappropriate" criteria were devised.

And neither of them is going to jail, because civil tort not criminal violation, but they should definitely both be made to give all their monies to those who bore the brunt of the balls out racism and sexism for years.

I think the same thing applies to the tv show. A very good friend of ours told me his family would always gather to watch "Mission Impossible" because Barney was just another character - not Black or white but just another guy. That was huge back in the day.

This is Rick at his best in his mind. His ego is large enough that he believes that fundamental christians will carry him to the White House in 2016. He can talk about Texas job growth (which has its own issues), less regulations, blah. Rick has forgotten one thing: female voters.

I'm sure the attorneys are already preparing the lawsuit against the State of Texas the minute he signs HB5 into law. Unfortunately, the HOR & Senate have a super majority and with SCOTUS repealing the vetting of Southern States by DOJ, gerrymandering will occur.
