"There's Ken Paxton, shoving his nose into children's panties again"

SethTriggs's avatar

This is the kind of remit you get as a champion of an unreconstructed state-based regime of terror. Remember, sadopopulism requires the absolutely pointless torment of tiny minorities, and inevitably it will progress to more numerous ones.

The cruelty is the point but remember these monsters don't act alone. They act as the agents of the millions of unreconstructed who want to find novel ways to torment minorities they hate. Minorities that mean them no harm and just mind their own business. But these minorities are an affront to the lives of the unreconstructed, and thus they must be sadistically tormented and destroyed.

Ken Paxton and anyone who supports this motherfucker is just evil - and while I can understand Texas Children's Hospital's desire to end the legal harassment that Paxton and the Trump DoJ have been them through, I feel they shouldn't have appeased the motherfuckers - because as so many other have found out, appeasement doesn't deter these fuckers, it only encourages them.

If I were him I'd focus (heh, heh) on getting that eye looked at.

I like the idea of making some abortions retro active.

I am not sure how we make this happen but we have to somehow get back to a reality-based reality.

These anti-trans policies are not based on the reality that trans women are attacking cis women in bathrooms, they're based on the "common sense" of conservatives that it's absolutely going to happen sometime soon and we have to prevent it. Except it never has materialized at any time in history. They're based on the idea that evil doctors are "mutilizationing" children but there's no evidence that this is happened anywhere. They're based on the idea that "common sense" says there are only 2 genders, despite the fact that medical science says, "nope."

"Drag queens will hurt our kids." Evidence non-existent. What about those Epstein Files?

"Lots of people don't trust our election process." Of course not, you specifically undermined it on purpose.

"There are 100 million immigrants in this country and they're eating the dogs!" WTF does one even say to such nonsense?

They create imaginary problems to fix rather than addressing the real problems we have. How do we re-educate the cult to the fact that the "problems" they are concerned with don't even really exist?

SethTriggs's avatar

The problem is there's a lot of people who can make oodles of cash telling terrible people what they want to hear. Standards and practices have gone out the window especially as the unreconstructed have control of our judicial system. It's not impossible but we're going to have to dig deep to come out of this.

This is all about people being free to cater to bigoted wishful thinking.

G-7 in Space's avatar

Simpler than that it is based on these pathetically weak men who are afraid of being attracted to a trans women...They never complain about trans men.

clairence's avatar

every accusation is a confession for these folks. They argue that trans women are attacking cis women because it's *what they would do*.

If we had a functioning media that was doing their jobs, this wouldn't be an issue. Now we have like 40 different atomized realities.

And like a good 30% not living in reality at all.

Yes, I agree. The outlook is poor, though. The 2 youngest generations score significantly lower on ALL cognitive measures compared to the older generations. And people are getting dumber every day, with outsourcing their thinking to AI.

I'm kind of done with people in general.

Pauly2coffees's avatar

They are doing their jobs. Their jobs are to make us all feel good about ourselves and bad about everyone else.

HarryButtle, degenerate artist's avatar

Yup. Ignoring FOX News and letting them spread nothing but vicious lies and propaganda for 50 years turned out to be a REALLY bad idea.

And now everybody has their own, self-constructed bubble of media feeds that tell them nothing but what they want to hear.

G-7 in Space's avatar

Obama and the Democratic Party should have sued them out of existence 20 years ago.

SethTriggs's avatar

Hell we saw what happened when Obama banned Faux News Entertainment from the briefing room; the rest of corporate media closed ranks.

The "MSM" is a made segment of the rightwing media human centipede.

Bupkus231's avatar

Wish someone would sue Paxton out of existence. And don't forget Governor Hot Wheels.

I truly just don't know that I can take much more of the outright destruction of all of our national park lands and wilderness areas, our old growth forests, all the animals that used to be safe inside those parks and lands, the wanton destruction of anything living that is endangered, anything living that isn't a heterosexual white male...the hatred and ugliness and balls to the walls utter stupidity these choads who still support this horrendous administration...I am not okay, I don't think I'm going to be okay, and I know our country will never be okay, it will take too long and people nowadays have the attention span of a methed up squirrel.

lotsacatsndogs's avatar

Hurts my heart. Hope they're gone before the worst is done. Lots of lawsuits, hunters too are outraged. 🤞🤞🤞

HarryButtle, degenerate artist's avatar

I'm a little old to take up eco-terrorism but who wants to live forever?

EyeQueue's avatar

Much peace to you. I am in the same boat. It's increasingly hard to take and I feel powerless to stop it. And the number of people that just roll over to all of this is very, very depressing.

catsntrees's avatar

Exactly this...all the yes men and women, the rolling over (most especially of Democratic governors and other people who should be much better but are not)...but the general public, they don't care, they simply don't care...we are going to go into a recession, people will lose their homes and jobs and lives and millions of our companion animals are going to end up homeless and dead (I volunteer at our local shelter and the owner abandonment is already sky high)...the innocents are paying the price for all of this and so many Americans cannot even be bothered to give a shit, I want to scream all the time and feel so powerless, my heart aches.

EyeQueue's avatar

That would break me (working at a shelter). :( During the pandemic I had to stop looking at the local shelter that posted videos and photos of the dogs trying to make them look as cute and loving as possible b/c it was a kill shelter. :( :(

We humans suck so much. And being an intelligent, empathetic person in this time is just soul crushing. Please try to be gentle with yourself and hang in there. It is really, really hard.

The hospital will simply pass on the costs of this settlement to the other patients.

I hope Paxton is endorsed by trump. Kiss of death, IMHO. Paxton will have to wait for his Supreme Court appointment. If you didn't read Tiedrich this morning, trump said on his flight home from Beijing that Talarico had six genders. He said this because he doesn't know what cisgender means. We are literally in hell.

What are the chances that Texas flips a senate seat in my lifetime? I hit the big 5-0 this year. I’ve got a friend who followed his wife to San Antonio for work, and apparently not EVERYBODY is an asshole out there. They do seem to prevail in elected government, though.

SethTriggs's avatar

You never know, so that's why it's important for people to jump the voter suppression hoops right now and make sure they're ready to vote.

josephebacon's avatar

This is why I send $$$$ to Talarico hoping he can stop Paxton from getting into the Senate. Folks if you can even just send a dollar to Talarico please consider it!

G-7 in Space's avatar

They cheat like they breath down there- remember Johnson and the "Barrel of Votes" he got in his second Senate race where he won. All in the same handwriting, of course...

Dorothea is a Democrat's avatar

In Texas, voter suppression is an artform.

Thanks to the party whose principled stance against "politicians coming between you and your healthcare" only exists to fight things that benefit the working class.

The pervasive cowardice of those who submit to fascists like Paxton and Abbott dishonors every man and woman who fought against slavery, religious persecution and sexual bigotry.

When I entered the Army in 1973 and reported for basic training at Ft. Sam Houston, I was treated to the sight of billboards reading "Let the yankee bastards freeze to death in the dark". Before then, I had no idea.

I'm from Pennsylvania originally, so I was really unaware of the depth of the animosity the South held for the north.

Bradthe🤖's avatar

The North stole all their states’ rights with The War of Northern Aggression, so it’s totally normal for them to feel that way.

I'd like to. I don't really believe in hurting people, but I'd like to.

EyeQueue's avatar

I mean, it didn't even need to involve killing anyone. Just taking their property and barring them from government offices and forcing them to play nice with the newly-released slaves would have been a good start. Imprisonment.

We couldn't even manage to do that much. :/
