I was hoping that reading the rest of the piece would get the song out of my head, but noooo.

I know France has already made a deal for passage through the Strait and if Iran was smart they would make a deal with every country that isn’t participating or helping the US.

Trumps making us the enemy of Europe and Iran the ally. Strong work

Hank Napkin's avatar

If every major waterway, airport, building, town, currency, street, hospital, carnival, ship, automobile, restaurant, country is named "Trump" how are we ever gonna be able to bomb the right thing?

"M"'s avatar

You know which other country might be asking themselves that question ...?

Saviour of Bread's avatar

I’ll say it again, if anyone in the administration understands the difference between Sunni and Shia they are keeping their heads down.

Every day is Ashura and every land is Karbala. Shia, even the agnostics, thrive on martyrdom.

Remind me again of MAGA’s stance on cancel culture.

"M"'s avatar

"no canceling for ME, only for THEE" about sums it up

A truckload of wrongful discrimination suits in a functioning Administration / country might also do the trick

OT: This just in from Broken Clock -

Rep. Nancy Mace: "The subpoena is by name and not by the title of the attorney general, so she's compelled and required by law to come before the Oversight Committee, and at this juncture I'm not backing away from that."

The Repubs seem to think Comer can kill it on his own but I've also heard he'd have to bring it to a vote which he may not be able to win.

SkeptiKC's avatar

Nonsense.

Not gonna happen.

Absolutely, Skepti

I think in any situation where anyone is relying on a Republican interpretation of the rules my reflexive suggestion is

I don't suppose that it ever occurred to Hegseth that a rather precious antiquity is situated on Kharg island, specifically the ruins of a Christian monastery that dates back to the 7th century.

Ha! Who the fuck am I kidding: fuckface is their new god and will redevelop it into a brothel, like his condo.

"M"'s avatar

"I don't suppose that it ever occurred to Hegseth that a rather precious antiquity is situated on Kharg island, specifically the ruins of a Christian monastery that dates back to the 7th century."

I didn't know that -- and I bet a lot of other people don't either

I think it ought to be publicized widely

It would sure put the lie to his Christian nationalist crap in the public opinion

And I don't mean just the Vatican press office, either

I mean every media outlet independent and mainstream ought to be carrying that

Saviour of Bread's avatar

Hegseth is one of those Xtians who has no idea that the Middle East was Xtians before it was Muslim.

Free beach's avatar

History or math is lost on MAGA.

Brian McCurdy's avatar

If Hegseth can fire the people who do the actual work during a war, then Hegseth can be fired during a war. I'm happy Noem and Bondi are gone and it seems like people are writing their wish lists of people who should be fired next. Hegseth is a sociopath who should be at the top. He's the most dangerous one.

Dorothea is a Democrat's avatar

Hegseth is an alcoholic who can't have a drink. He's taking steroids or testosterone and it's making him more than a little nuts. He is not well. He needs to go before the military is forced to frag him.

VelveetaSneeze's avatar

He and Stephen Miller, with Leavitt a close third.

Tecolote's avatar

All three of them love being on camera. After a while, that grates on PAB, who is such a needy bitch for attention. As this war is being acknowledged as a disaster by everyone, Pete should be tossed under the bus next. After that, Kash.

Nemo's avatar

I'm betting Kash gets dumped next. He has brown skin.

Free beach's avatar

That’s why dumpy keeps him

HarryButtle, degenerate artist's avatar

Has anybody asked Joni Ernst how she feels about Hegseth now?

Or Tom Cotton about the war?

HarryButtle, degenerate artist's avatar

"Ricky Buria" is not a cabinet member's chief of staff name. Are you sure that's not, like, Rob Schneider's personal assistant?

OT (or actually pretty on-topic): Just a reminder, the price of oil drives the price of synthetic fertilizer.

Is America great again yet?

Trump Struck Iran. Now Farmers Are Paying the Price.

The economic fallout of the war in Iran is pushing farmers to the brink as the price for fertilizer soars just before planting season. Supply chain disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz are adding new uncertainty to an already struggling farming sector.

Remember everyone, farm *workers* are poor and usually have zero equity in whatever farm they're working on.

Farm *owners* are millionaires who drive trucks, cosplay as working-class, and vote Republican because they'll let them treat undocumented immigrants as slaves. There is a huge difference between them.

Frank Talk, Action Pundit!'s avatar

Again, who did they vote for?

ciaobella's avatar

Those darn trans people and immigrants, look what they’ve done, now I can’t even fertilize my soybean crop which I can’t sell to China.

"Of course, we still support President Trump."

Flashman's avatar

And the government should keep its hands off my crop support payments.

innocentbystander's avatar

My father had a new hire in his office in the early '60s who asked a big farm owner down around Bakersfield one time what his 'cotton allotment' was when they were doing an appraisal. Awkward. Pop told this guy before they reached the car in the parking lot that you never EVER asked a farmer what his federal subsidies were. "That's not 'farm income'. That's just his money".

Russell Jones's avatar

"Filthy mitts," Flashman! Keep its FILTHY MITTS off my crop support payments. :D

"We want to plant that flag and say the Bible has something to say about this.”

Except the bibble has relatively little to say on ANY of the topics y'all are so hepped up about. Gays, abortion, gender...bupkis. You know what the bibble talks about a lot? Feed the hungry. House the homeless. Help the needy. Why do you NEVER want to include that part in your fucking legislation?

VelveetaSneeze's avatar

Oh, fucking thank you. Waiting for this comment.

Nemo's avatar

There's some of that. There's also a lot of genocide and murder that gets approved by Yahweh. My favorite part is Solomon's script for a soft core porn flick. If you take the bibble as a guide to behavior, you can do absolutely anything.

At least half of them haven't. Not only does Obama know his chapter and verse, but he also lives like a man who does (one who doesn't intentionally misread it, or solely get off on violence in the FT). The same can be said about Biden. In my lifetime thus far, though, no one has lived as closely to biblical teachings as Jimmy Carter, may he RIP.
