Last night, Americans heard the news about Osama bin Laden and flocked to the site where the World Trade Center once stood. And they arrived on this hallowed ground, they held up signs, tried to get themselves on teevee, and yelled celebratory chants, including "SEND THEM HOME." But most of all, these people got drunk. And some of them also smoked marijuana. And then Don't Ask, Don't Tell opponent Lt. Dan Choi showed up for some reason. Uh, okay! We were there and took some photos of the celebration.
Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas administration in Gaza Strip We condemn the assassination and the killing of an Arab holy warrior. We regard this as a continuation of the American policy based on oppression and the shedding of Muslim and Arab blood.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast US and their allies have no more excuse to deploy forces in the Middle East under pretext of fighting terrorism.
High school story: A young woman who would eventually become a very good friend had a note on her binder that said, "Quick, reassuring hugs: 25 cents" I asked how much the rest was and she said, "You can't afford it". Even though I was the one shot down, I have to admit it was inspired.
Had OBL been capture/killed back in 2002 when we almost had him, but dropped the ball, then yah, beers all around. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I'm not glad he's dead. Actually, I got a chuckle thinking about him waking up and NOT being surrounded by 72 virgins. But now, after all of this time, partying feels unseemly...especially in the light of how 911 was ultimately used as the excuse for invading Iraq.
Glad he's dead? Yes. But glad in the way that I'm glad when the old Nazi prison guards are finally brought to justice. Does this have any immediate effect on my life (other than hoping that the families of the victims find some peace)? No. I wish we could have nailed him back in 2002, but we were too distracted with starting another war to really care.

Fuck all.
The guy with the girl on his shoulders? His girlfriend is an ornithologist, specializing in tropical birds. How do I know? She has a two can.
Well, it can't. Right?
That's a smoking jacket.
They probably say it already.
The SEALS brought Coronas with them? It's that kind of attention to details that marks them as professionals.
Some unhappy with the situation:

"I am also glad he's dead, but "victorious" is not the emotion I am feeling. "
Well said.
