In a surprising departure from the usual script, a police shooting of an unarmed black man has resulted in the police officer being charged with murder. Michael Slager, 33, a police officer in North Charleston, South Carolina, was fired from the police department and charged with the murder of Walter L. Scott, 50, after pulling Scott over for a broken brake light.
I tend to view it through a more "distinctions between crimes that involve killing people and crimes that don't involve killing people" lens. But whatever.
I refuse to paint with a broad brush. Saying something like "ALL Police officers are bad because a few do horrible things!" is entirely too close to what the opposition does when they say things like "All gay people are perverts because a few belong to NAMBLA!"
If Officer Jim murders someone under the cover of badge, he deserves to go to prison for it. If his partner Officer Bob tried to help cover it up, he deserves prison too. If Officer James in the same department had no part in it, then Officer James doesn't deserve to be labeled.
personally, I say if you empower people to make snap-decisions that can end your life, assume they're ALL scumbags and regulate them accordingly.
Since I can't find it to link, cue the Idiocracy scene where three tubby cops empty their ARs into a car they think a suspect is in.

Hey, there's an idea: Stupidest Man on the Internet design contest!
Better idea than a caption contest, right?
Wave of conservative-backed bills to make videoing cops illegal in 5...4...3...2...

I don't always endorse violent thugs... but when I do, I prefer Apollo astronauts.
Stay ornery, my friends.
If it were Florida, he could've "stood his ground."
The nazi pig will walk, no doubt in my mind. And his defense fund probably already has $1 million from nazi dickheads.
That's not steam, that's your bullshit detector with its needle pegged.

I'll say, but Eric Garner told me not to hold my- wait, no, that was coming out so wrong.
I've sent this to a probation officer friend (yes, Friend)
Chuck, here's a tidbit of truth about Walter Scott. Whatever he did, he was not as truly horrible a person as you are.
Seriously, Chuck C Johnson is the worst, the end.
You missed the part about flashing gang signs.
Did anyone check the full tape to make sure that after planting the taser, the cop didn't swing his Maglite a little?
chuck, with your mindless adoration of authority and your feverish nationalism you qualify as fascist. And a coward.
...to be insulted by those fascists is so degrading...
