On the PBS news hour last night I saw a story about a family that trekked from Venezuela to get into the US. I mean these people WALKED with their 5 kids from Venezuela. You have to be living in a crazy shithole to make you want to do that. The kids were interviewed at the shelter over the border and talked about how much they liked it there because it was calm. There was no danger. Let that settle in for ya. They would rather live in a shelter than the country they were born in because of the absolute turmoil where they were from.
ETA: The overwhelming thing that these people from other countries say about what they want for their children? EDUCATION. They want their kids to learn. Our educational system can use a lot of improvement. We need to invest in our children big time.
