Sure it's a hate-endorsement. But it's an endorsement. P.J. O'Rourke, the conservative polemicist whose books unaccountably get shelved in the "humor" section, made a very serious announcement this weekend on National Public Radio's news quiz show "Wait Wait...Don't tell Me!" The whole glibertarian thing in the Bush years, where both sides were equally deserving of contempt and mockery so they made jokes about women, minorities, the handicapped and Dick Cheney? Yeah, the South Park assholes gave a few interviews that made me understand on a visceral level why people on the internet are scarily invested in loathing celebrities.
I thought he was funny back in the 70's when I was in college. He had a regular column somewhere (the internet didn't exist then) that I used to read and I usually laughed
As a Libertarian Conservative (assuming words mean anything now), it provides such sardonic amusement to see inclusive, big tent, love everyone, cumbaya progressives incessantly savage someone who is to their right, whether afar a light-year or an inch. You wonks are so silly in your insular self-righteousness, far beyond any "religious" I've ever met. Yet you haven't the introspective ability to see anything unusual about your fatuous proclamations : sheesh, bogart a doobie and listen to The Firesign Theatre. Be imaginative instead of dogmatic. How pathetic that you cannot see anything amusing or relevant in "The Parliament of Whores", or even Atticus Finch (http://www.weeklystandard.c.... What sanctimonious twits.
