I thought the whole 2024 thing was a way to get him to go along with leaving the White House in January. Assure him that he can come back. Humor him until he's safely out the door. It seems crazy that he would really be nominated in 2024 since he could only hold the presidency for another four years. But then I remember; Republicans. Never, ever underestimate their capacity for crazy.

If we're looking for that silver lining, we can savor how it will fuck up the ambitions of people like the already referenced Haley as well as up-and-comers like Cotton and Hawley. Hell, Rubio and Cruz want another pass at the ring. Yeah, everybody step aside for ANOTHER four years in deference to crazy Uncle Daddy and his horde of demented deplorables.
Remember, we're not dealing with a regular ex-President here. The expectation has always been for the guy to go away and quietly write his memoirs, maybe popping out for the midterms to rally the troops.

I think that we won't have Trump to kick around much longer when his waist-to-height exceeds ratio exceeds 1.0. (this may have already occurred).
