“Pass the berry” sounds dirtier than it is, but it does relate to romance, at least for cedar waxwings, your hed gif birds: https://martiniambassador.substack.com/p/pass-the-berry

Aaaaahh, the golden birds of happiness. 💛

ames's avatar

Thank you! They are some of my favs!

Like my first wife except she never gave the berries back. Then she charged up the credit cards, left them on the dining room table and moved out on our fourth anniversary.

It turned out for the better. She was more whackwing than waxwing.

helenasgarden's avatar

LOL At first I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Opalescent Riddles's avatar

Beautiful.

They perch in birches at the water's edge, better to see the flying insects they chase, capture, and eat. A fun game it is to try to see the potential target before or soon after the bird takes off. It's like watching eagles or hawks hunt on a smaller scale.

If you moored your boat to the tree they're using as base, you should move it to another tree.

Teen Laqueefa's avatar

As a child I always wondered why they were so elusive having never seen one, and dreamed of seeing one someday and still haven't. Sort of like Wood ducks. except I eventually did see one of those in a shitty setting. (Ark river downtown Wichita)

helenasgarden's avatar

Oh. lucky you! Wood ducks are beautifuIly and so precisely painted.

I want to see the bluebird of happiness.

May the bird of paradise fly up your nose

May an elephant caress you with his toes

May your wife be plagued with runners in her hose

May the bird of paradise fly up your nose

helenasgarden's avatar

Bwah! Thanks for cheering me up!

ames's avatar

If you have a mulberry tree, you'll see them!

Holly - Lima Charlie's avatar

Waxwings are exquisite birds. Seeing them in the snow is otherworldly and that's an understatement.

Sherry's avatar

They are. I can hear them but they seem to be elusive in seeing and they are flocks of them at that.

Gorgeous creatures

"I passed a berry, she returned a pit..." and now you know!

Suitors plying the object of their affection with fruit makes for a healthy relationship. Go, birdies!

helenasgarden's avatar

In film, early on if I see a male lead quietly give food to the female lead at the dining table or help her with food (like breaking crab shells for her even though she doesn't ask) I melt. It's rare though.

TootsStansbury 🇺🇦's avatar

These are some of my favorite birbs because beautiful of course, but so gregarious and fun to watch. Also yellow-rumped warblers, which used to be all around my yard in NC.

Jen Is Journalisming's avatar

I was all excited that I actually remembered their name :D

Little pep me up for the morning

So it's probably too late to start?

"Pass the berry" is romantic, whereas "gab 'em by the pussy" is gross and invasive.

Shocktreatment's avatar

The Lout would turn romance into nausea, certainly and quickly...

"I passed a berry, the bastard ate it, gave me the pit and told me to get some more!"

All those Senators with their twisted knickers who are in a huff about their phone records being tracked in Jack Smith’s “Arctic Frost” investigation, after the Jan. 6 insurrection and Trump’s efforts to steal the 2020 election, may want to refer to their own post-9/11 “Patriot Act” where Section 215 allows for such data collection.

After all, wouldn’t you want to know how far the conspiracy extended into the Government itself?

Entitled! Right there! 🤦‍♀️🤬

Robert Plant is someone who I think has lived an incredibly epic life, doing what he does best, along with his mate Jimmy Page. I just relish the life they’ve lived throughout the past 70 years and really there is nothing but a totally revolutionary, cool reputation for being gifted and sexy.

El Bastardo's avatar

The Jimmy Page soundtrack to Kenneth Anger's Lucifer Rising is really amazing!

One would have to manually synch them, from both of their YouTube availabilities.

If one's fingers are adept.

From the Washington post. "The status of the war remained in limbo Monday, and it was far from the first time that the two sides have offered differing versions of reality."

I don't know how to comment on this. Even under the influence of Peyote, there is but one reality.

Donald Trump is the first President who can alter reality with his mind.

That Alison Krauss-Robert Plant album is very good.

"President Donald Trump has made America less safe by punching a hole in the nation's ability to defend against a certain kind of attack from Iran, MS NOW's Rachel Maddow warned on Monday, and they're already taking advantage."

IIRC, Trump slashed US cybersecurity because they kept saying Russia was up to no good and Trump didn't like hearing it.

So if we don't have anyone looking at it, it isn't happening.

And covid disappears if you don't count the cases. What a Subpar, I mean, super genius.

imissthosesparks TYFYATTM's avatar

Trump figures since he doesn't understand anything about cyber security how could the Iranians possibly know anything about it, let alone make cyber attacks.

I volunteered to help out with the early voting in my county. Have yet to hear anything about where and what days I'll be doing things, so I've emailed them.

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

I got my letter to report on 8/25 for the runoffs. That will decide who will be the next gov of OK.

The Wanderer's avatar

Apparently I'm a deputy alternate for the early voting 8/8-15, and an equipment operator on 8/18. Being an alternate means having to get up early, getting ready, and waiting for a phone call.

For eight straight days, yay.

Sen. Rand Paul: "I've had the debate with this administration ... they told me this isn't a war. I said, why isn't it a war? They said, 'Well, a constitutional war has to have significant casualties' ... initiation or declaration of war is *before* the casualties."
