Now that Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson has apologized for being worthless (but not for actively making matters worse), what are other law enforcement agencies doing to get back in the public's good graces? Let's start with a story we already touched on in the
So good on the South Carolina State Police for quickly dealing with a bad cop, and not trying to cover the awful mess up or make excuses.
I hate to be cynical, but does anyone else think this outcome happened because Mr. Jones is still above ground rather than 6 feet under it?
Hey, anybody not wearing a seatbelt is obviously a potential cop-killer.
Ten feet from the target, and two shots missed entirely; the cop is lucky nobody else got plugged. "These violations demonstrate marksmanship that deviates from SCDPS standards and cannot be tolerated."
...seat belt violation? That is one of my personal favorites; right next to "failing to come to a full stop at a stop sign" and "not using your turn signal"! I'm sure if someone ever did a data analysis on these 3 infractions you would discover that Blak/Hispanic people make up 85% of those who were ticketed.
Oh yeah and LOITERING is the blanket criminal charge of choice for harassing blak and or brown people who cant afford cars
Sure, they always say they'll try to be a little less shooty. But it's like cutting back on porn or beer; soon enough you'll be back to your old habits.
Not if there's a sidewalk near where you fall!
Everything else in Ferguson is a throwback, so yeah, videotape.

...another positive point is, at least S.Carolina cops don't have as good a aim as Ferguson Missouri cops!

"Existing while black" is getting to be a capital offense in the South. Again. : (
Jones' lawyer probably prevented them from "misplacing" the videotape.
It would be interesting to run the whole tape, and see how many white drivers, without belts, drove by unmolested.

It's hard to shoot straight when your hands are shaking from fear at the prospect of being that close to a black man.
Always remember, children, if you feel unsafe, your best bet is to run directly to someone who's holding a smartphone or video recorder.
Bad cop doing 20 in a South Carolina prison? Sweet! Can we get the video of THAT?
I'm having mine embedded in a Prince Albert. If they need a second pass on the reader, I can helicopter a few times.
Sadly plausible. This bad cop was fired not only for being lousy at his job, but a lousy shot.
True, but your chances of NOT being shot are relatively good, for the same reason as mine.
