I'm a registered Democrat, but I'm not "dependent." I picked the team I think does the best job, however imperfect, of working towards the common good.
With all due respect, claiming to be independent yet aligned with one of the two parties serves what positive function? Are you in the fight to improve the choice of candidates, the party and affect outcomes?
Or does being independent simply give you the satisfaction of complaining about outcomes you don't prefer? From what I see, independent voters are just as subject to misinformation as everyone else. Nobody likes pandering, but that's what the parties have to do to sway the "independent" vote.

I was "independent" in the past because of the "both sides do it" part where the party backs the incumbent regardless of who has the best ideas. Eric Swalwell is awesome but you wouldn't even know his name except for the fact that California changed to a "top 2 finishers" primary some years ago, and the general election had two Democrats instead of a Dem and a Republican. The party system (particularly the 2-party system) is not our friend and I refused to be a part of it. I still don't, except for the label I wear. I give money to the candidate not to the party.
Has anyone taken a poll to determine the stats on the people who believe the February polls will accurately determine the outcome of the November election?

And his blatant disregard for the law, lack of empathy and appetite for corruption will be completely unbridled this time. And these idiots think they will be spared if they love him hard enough. Pathetic.
Also, too, many of his staunchest sycophants in Congress have political ambitions that will be completely frozen in place, forever, if Trump gets back in. That never occurs to them either.
As a registered “independent,” I’ll tell you who we are: people who don’t want to receive political mailings. That’s it; that’s all it is. We all know who we will vote for, other than the few idiots who say “All politicians are corrupt, so there’s no difference between the parties…” Those people are idiots, and should be roundly mocked. The rest of us will vote how we have ever voted. And after the election we will ensure out town clerk re-registers us as “independent.”
NBC, the network that manufactured Trump's image as a reality TV tycoon, would like him back for another season and is willing to subvert its "news" department to get that.
