I think the Biden administration should announce up front that they'll only respond to subpoenas when they feel like it. When everyone pitches a fit (which they will), then maybe Congress can start writing laws around all of these "norms" that Trump folks ignore. Like independent DoJ, ethics rules for POTUS and SCOTUS, actual penalties for contempt of congress and obstruction of congress, etc.

I'd like to see all of Trump's cabinet members pass in review, with all their little quirks. They were so vicious, all in their different ways. My favorite was that one I think of as "Queen Elizabeth." Not the most damaging but the weirdest thing about him-- he insisted a flag--with his name on it? I think so!-- had to fly from the roof of the Dept of Interior whenever he was present. This man had been a Navy Seal. He was actually considered the Shame of the Navy Seals. All of them were odious like this
When I went down into Hell last two weeks,commenting to commenters at Law and Crime, ALL the RW fiends I was talking politely to-- I mean gaslighting, of course with my powerful lies-- all any of them could talk about was the confession by one DOJ lawyer that he'd lied on a foia request to extend the investigation into Carter Page. They believed this was just the beginning of a deluge of arrests, and they believed that for this action this obscure lawyer would go to prison. I don't think this man will go to prison, but only be disbarred. (Don 't you think so?) Anyway, they were so excited-- all of them-- I suggested they consider the Senate report on the origins of the inquiry into the Trump campaign's ties to Russia. But--how could I be so feeble as to bring that up? Did I want to be humiliated all over again as in the Mueller Report???? But I said what they want is not happening.
They claim to believe that every body-- including Holder and Barack Obama will end up in prison. Oh and Hillary. And this tiny man is the sign that its just beginning. If you say, well okay, but why DOESN'T Trump mind that Putin has done these things? At this they throw lies in your face, and get totally obscene. They'd tell me Trump has imposed much bigger and twice as many sanctions as Barack! if you make some assertion the same person who called you obscene names turns into this kind of Bertrand Russell and says, "I demand to see proof!" So I was forced to return to my regular life. It was so great. That other thing was really trying. It was trying minute to minute and also at a deeper level. Several deeper levels. But I won't try it anymore. So that's good. (I realize nobody asked me to do it.)
I did hear something hilarious-- I think it was Brian --- of the Eleventh Hour, mentioning that the working people's Democratic Convention had would up with us seeing the arrest of a Republican getting arrested off a mega-yacht by post office security for corruption, and hauled off in custody.
We don't do "some horrible person in the news might get raped in prison, and that's just great and hilarious, hurr hurr" here. Because it's rape. And if you think the prospect of someone being raped is hilarious or a fine idea, you may want to rethink your assumptions on that point.

Gotta hand it to you for bravery, and coming out from the sludge with morals and optimism intact.
Given the skid marks of humanity you had to deal with, and having seen quite a few examples myself, I have decided that if we cannot fully turn the tide this November, I’ll be done with even caring. If enough decent people don’t do whatever they can to get their vote counted, I’ll retire, play music, read entertaining books, go out into nature, and simply enjoy the rest of my existence without bothering myself about the disintegration of our democracy.
Thank you. It wasn't bravery but massive curiosity. I know people say it makes no difference what facts deluded people hear, but I couldn't believe that was true. But I learned that it IS true. Though not whether they're actually deluded, or just determined to act like jerks. Like the Proud Boys. They've gone all through being ashamed of themselves, so now they're making a virtue of necessity or something. And Trump's given them this strange exciting moment. To show their sixth grade teachers! I also thought it was good for me to be called unbelievable names. Tho they were so unbelievable it was only somewhat helpful. To really hurt, mean people have to say things you suspect may be true, right?But anyway it sure was depressing to learn the ugly insides of their minds.Some were ignorant and mad. Some were educated egomaniacs and mad.
I hope you recover from your despair, if it turns out Trump wins this time. It seems pretty unlikely but if it happens, I don't think you'll manage to disengage that way. That would be depressing wouldn't it? I do believe this place would become unmanageable for Trump. Not, I hope because of protests but because other kinds of demonstrations would be found. Lots of pranks maybe.
