I not quite sure he's suceeded at overcoming that hurdle yet.

You should inherit a million upvotes from your dad for that concept!

Let's examine how this goes down if Trump isn't born to money...

"Hello, Mr. Trump" - Banker"My name is Donald. Give me a million bucks. I'm gonna get rich with real estate." - The Donald"Do you have collateral?" - Banker"Collateral? No." - The Donald"Goodbye, Mr. Trump" - Banker"Gosh, I will work extra hard and the American Dream, too! Gives me the big bucks!" - The Donald"We don't just lend a million dollars to every Tom, Dick, and Harry off the street to fund crazy real estate 'get rich quick' schemes! Get out!" - Banker

And if you wear it on your head, you too, can imitate the klassiness that is Trump.

Fortune did a quick number crunch and determined that if Donald had taken the cash Daddy left him and socked it away in an S&P mutual or an index-tracker, he'd have about 3X his current worth and none of the bankruptcies. Better if he'd split it between sensible investment and T-bonds, but of course, then his name wouldn't be all over some of the ugliest buildings in America.

The other thing that he got from dear old dad was the name of a good bankruptcy lawyer.

And that's the thing. Being a total incompetent is a "privilege" of wealth.

Why does nobody mention that Donald's grandfather ran a brothel during the Klondike Gold Rush?

Without exception, those I have met who make a big deal about how hard they had to work (to get where they are), or how much adversity they had to face in their rise to success, invariably turn out to have had a LOT of breaks. A LOT.

I can understand. When your wallet is the only valuable thing in you pants, you'd be inclined to brag about it too.

That's been my experience too. The ones that complain the most about how "hard" they had to "work" usually got the best start from their families.

You people are fucking morons! He got 1 million, payed it back and turned it into billions, then his dad died and the rest of that money went into his business, AFTER he had already accumulated a shit ton or wealth.. No wonder this country is doomed. I read all these comments and it makes me want to puke. There was a comment earlier up about people that have money have had alot of breaks. That is the biggest bullshit statement from a loser i have ever heard! If you work hard, you are more likely to get "breaks".

No you are the fool. If he had invested his inheritance in Standard and Poors indexed companies - he would have at least twice as much money.

The money he does have he got by conning gullible fools into investing in his projects then he backed most of his money out, filed for bankruptcy protection and walked off with the profits. The man is a financial predator.
