This afternoon we went to the local Humane Society and talked to the pups. Woof! Helped with some cleaning and took photos to hand out to friends to get them to think about adopting (Wednesday we take our own pup to the Hospice Center for his very first time "patient and dog wellness" training). Sunday we go for our training at the library to volunteer for their literacy program. Monday we mail our checks to Planned Parenthood and the ADL. There's plenty of opposition work to be done and to stay distracted from what just happened. And without getting fat or drunk or spending $$ on yourself. Feels just as good, too (almost kinda).

I took out my Amiga "Make up your own mind " tee-shirt https://uploads.disquscdn.c..., sort of danced hugging it then hung it back in the closet (I swear I will lose some weight RSN and it will fit again).
I've been giving similar side-eye to friends who claim that none of this would have happened had Bernie been the nominee. I mean, I like the dude and I voted for him in the primaries, but this sentiment seems especially blind to the extent to which economic anxiety and racism are deeply intertwined for many white voters. How many Trumpkins would really have said, "Why yes, I think I'll have the old Jewish socialist, instead?"
And some of these same friends are already like "He's going to run in 2020!" And I'm like, y'all, he'll be like 104 years old.
I'm gonna go take my Sheltie to the dog park and watch dogs play for a time. That's my self- care (until some Amarone della Valpolicella tonight), but first have to make my face look like I haven't had eye- leaking on and off all morning since I dropped the kids off. Take care everybody.
Well, I was so depressed I deliberately tuned in to TVLand (I am old) and watched an episode of Andy Griffith. Guess which episode was playing....Ernest T. Bass was terrorizing Mayberry by breaking windows until got a uniform(he had been kicked out of the Army which he only joined to get a uniform). Sheldon Leonard being all Nostrodomasy.
I've been sleeping in my Truck Fump shirt every night. I plan to continue doing so for at least the next four years; I might have to buy a second one for laundry days.
Those little, local victories are all we're gonna have for awhile. But it is better than nothing. Blue seeds got planted, we have to water them. That said, I know the fear. My state is red top to bottom except for MY county.
I can't handle the Kumbaya thing right now. I'm not ready to "what's next" this. I wish people on BOTH damn sides would stop pushing people to be done with it less than 48 hours after it happened.
