It would be terrible enough if the guy thought that bankrupting Social Security and Medicare was a great, bold policy idea. What's arguably worse is the possibility that, after 3 and 1/2 years "at the helm" this dude doesn't even know what FICA tax is.

Third email from AARP today about this:

" Across party lines, Americans overwhelmingly support and rely on Social Security. Its future cannot be put into financial jeopardy.President Trump made statements about putting the long-term funding of Social Security at great risk. That’s why we MUST fight, now, to protect and strengthen it. Social Security is a hard-earned benefit and a promise that must be kept. It’s time for President Trump to explain his statements about eliminating Social Security’s dedicated funding. Will you email him today and demand an answer?"

With a link to:

"President Trump is making statements that he’ll eliminate the Social Security payroll tax contribution if he is re-elected, putting funding for Social Security at risk. And that comes at a moment when Americans 50+ are already on edge about their financial and retirement security. We cannot cut Social Security funding and endanger the benefits that Americans pay into their whole lives.Email President Trump today. Ask him to explain his recent statements about eliminating Social Security’s current dedicated funding."

Followed by the suggested email:

"President Trump,Your recent comments suggesting termination of Social Security's dedicated payroll taxes thatself-fund the program raise serious questions about Social Security's future.I'm asking for a more complete explanation of your recent statements, including your plan to replace the payroll tax, and how individuals could count on receiving their hard-earned Social Security benefits.Social Security is the largest source of retirement income for most Americans and provides nearly all income for one in four seniors. Eliminating the payroll tax contribution, temporarily or permanently, puts Social Security benefits at risk for both current and future retirees.Across age groups and parties, the American public overwhelmingly supports Social Security. So please, clarify your statements so all Americans understand how Social Security will be funded long-term."

Not screaming, exactly, but then we're old. We'll bring out the pitchforks next.

Trump seems to think this is a big winner! Because, of course, he knows nothing.
