...so when Cliven Bundy and his followers seek out federal law enforcement officers and then proceed to brandish loaded weapons while threatening them; that is fine! But when unarmed black people in Ferguson Missouri decide to exercise their 1st Amendment rights, they are met with tear gas, rubber bullets, armored vehicles, blocked off streets and police officers dressed like something out of a Tom Clancy novel. The ironic thing is that the response that law enforcement respond with in Ferguson is the exact response that Cliven Bundy and his supporters <strong>HOPED FOR</strong> in their ARMED stand off in Nevada.
...when white people protest, they send in negotiators. When black people protest, they send in the National Guard, SWAT teams, the Avengers, Seal Team 6, The Macho Man Randy Savage, Optimis Prime and the entire cast of the expendables!
When you stop shooting, beating and gassing people they don&rsquo;t get nearly as upset and Thomas the Tank Engine comes out.. Who would have thought?
great article on Missouri State Highway Patrol Capt. Ronald S. Johnson who has taken over in Ferguson. As somebody who used to live in this hellhole state, I can attest that their highway patrol is pretty good. I knew a guy in college who wanted to join, apparently something like 96% of their officers are ex MPs so you pretty much have to go be military police before applying. So presumably those guys have a BIT more experience with modern crowd control tactics, which rely heavily on NOT being a gang of jackbooted dipshit thugs like the St. Louis County and Ferguson cops.
I heard this on the news this morning and I was so relieved. The state cops came in sans batons, tear gas, and riot gear...moved around the protestors and <i>just talked with them</i>. To paraphrase the comic, &quot;Reasonable response: What a concept!&quot;
OT from yesterday. I forgot which thread it was in, but a woman was quoted as saying that she crosses the street for no man because verily, she is armed to the teeth. Ok...I kinda get that. This is the US. Home of Freedom, Opportunity, and crazy deranged mofos driven made by an insane society...one needs to protect ones self.
