Ta, MM. I could not do your job. And seeing CBS News become See B.S. Noise under Bari Weiss's "leadership" is painful.

I guess the era in which Margaret Brennan occasionally makes a good incisive point is over.

With Bari Weiss now at CBS, we're going to lose the Grandpa/Grandma demographic that doesn't understand streaming.

Hah, a lot of those Grandpas/Grandmas are still on AOL, nodding their vehement agreement with Dan Rather – "Dan Rather Slams CBS News Over Appointment of New Boss Bari Weiss" https://www.aol.com/dan-rather-slams-cbs-news-123553603.html

If the East Wing had asbestos or mould (which is likely) then the way it came down was EXACTLY wrong and put everyone within a mile or two in danger.

Asbestos demolition in particular requires extreme care to require just the dust cloud we all saw. Mould demolition is similar but can require different methods. Fuck Trump and his lying liars forever.

"could have not fit with the design"

>there it is, tucked in with the nonsense. Bessent lets us know that the intent was always to tear down the East Wing. Maybe more, because the East wing looked a lot like the rest of the White House, and if the East Wing didn't fit with the design then well....

David Brooks recommended that Californians not vote for redistricting because it's bad and we'll at least have the moral victory, and his party will be permanently entrenched. Thanks David. I suggest you go fuck yourself and then declare a moral victory.

"Welker asked Bessent for more details on whether these new Canadian tariffs would be on all their goods, or which select goods they would apply for, but he did not know."

A typical response from one of the Fulvous Fuckwad's attack Dachshunds; they are clueless until he tells them what to say and think... for the moment. This leads to another reason that Bessent, and the rest of the MAGAdroids are know-nothings, it's likely because TACO gonna change his mind in about 23 minutes.

-----

"BESSENT: Kristen, it’s unfortunate, as much as I like you, you like to cherrypick"

I'm always amazed, but never surprised, by the unintentional self-owns of the RINOs and MAGAdroids. If an interviewer does cherrypick in a question, it's probably an attempt to elicit clarification or to point out an absurd statement from whoever and from either side of the aisle.

-----

"I assume that maybe parts of the East Wing could have been asbestos, could have been mold, could have not fit with the design."

* So, no one told Scotty that wantonly tearing down a building with asbestos and mold would release these carcinogens into the air for all to get sick from? I doubt that Bessent, the Halloween Orange Hemorrhoid, or anyone else serving in the current regime has a plan for monetary set-asides for the myriad lawsuits coming down the pike that we get to fund. (yea for incompetent assholes.)

* Here's a crazy idea, if the design for the ballroom didn't match the existing buildings then perhaps instead of demolishing a part of the People's House maybe the gaudy ballroom design should be redone.

(Sidebar: When the Corrupt Coral Coward talks about the WTC and if the towers had used asbestos they'd still be standing is unmitigated bovine scat. [From the YouTube link] Asbestos might be a fire retardant but it has a melting point that would have come into play,

> "Asbestos is a flame-retardant mineral, which is one of the reasons it was so widely used in the past. It’s nonflammable, noncombustible and has a melting point of around 1,600 degrees Fahrenheit." https://milehighenvironmentalinc.com/environmental-blog/asbestos-in-a-fire-safety-tips/

--but--

> "Preliminary results, based on approximate estimates of the fire conditions following the crash of the planes into the WTC Towers and the initial damage caused by the impact, shows that the fires generated very significant heat release rates and the fire temperatures were likely to have exceeded 1000° C. [NB: 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit] Given the amount of fuel available at the moment of the crash, such temperatures are likely to have lasted long enough to raise the temperature of the building material to dangerously high levels, and hence for the fires to have contributed significantly to the weakening of the towers structures and their collapse, contrary to some early speculations." https://web.mit.edu/civenv/wtc/PDFfiles/Chapter%20V%20Fire.pdf

Judd Apatow gets it. Do YOU get it?

https://www.thedailybeast.com/judd-apatow-sees-grand-plan-behind-trumps-dumbest-memes/

Judd Apatow explained his theory that Donald Trump’s “dumbest memes” are actually orchestrated moves by “psychiatrists and think tanks” that are working to make Trump’s critics “lose hope.”

“My feeling is that it’s always more complicated than we know,” the comedy director and producer explained on the On with Kara Swisher podcast. “I don’t think this memeification is based on someone’s instinct. I think there’s think tanks and psychological studies” behind Trump’s scandalized social media posts, he continued, “because it has been proven to work as propaganda.”

“And we take it like, ‘Oh, he’s being crazy. And I can’t believe he said that, or I can’t believe he posted that. It’s totally planned,” he asserted. “I think there’s literally like psychiatrists figuring out, how do you make people lose hope? How do you make people think that they can’t win a fight?”

<snip>

Apatow said the Democrats are sitting ducks in the face of Trump’s schoolyard humor: “They’re afraid to take the comedic risk, that it’ll be taken the wrong way. So as a result, they seem like they’re covering, like they’re controlling their expression, and Trump is just pure expression.”.....Trump wins the narrative by “flooding the zone,” Apatow went on, but he said not giving in to “hopelessness” is how citizens can push back.

I suddenly have a problem. I tried to leave a comment on the Hamdi article, but got a message “This comment section is for paid subscribers only.” Is this a new policy? Seems like if I can’t comment on an article, you shouldn’t clog my inbox with it.

Of course, given all the rage in the comments, it’s entirely possible that ALL further comments were blocked. It certainly made me understand why Wonkette doesn’t post about Israel very often.

There is a switch on stories which can limit comments to paid subscribers. Occasionally it gets left on - it's generally a temporary thing which lasts until someone reminds the authors/admins and then it gets set properly.

although, of course, comments are not allowed here on this recipe blog.
