nope . . . they'll just want us to start another coup and install another puppet there.

The generic names are usually a truncated version of the chemicals themselves and can help healthcare professionals quickly categorize them mentally. Generic names ending in "~mab," for example, are Monoclonal AntiBodies (earlier generations were grown in mice and are "~momab" for Murine-Origin Monoclonal AntiBodies). This is far more helpful than trying to figure out a drug class based on the trademarked name.

Is a "steep climb" 5 bodies or 30?

There's plenty of different groups out there. From the hippy drippy granola anti vaxx left to the hardest of the hard right.

There's the don't tell we what to do crowd who would probably get the shot but won't because they think it's a mandate. There's the rugged individualists that think they are rugged enough to get sick and recover so they don't need a vaccine.

Those two would likely take the pill.

Then there's the white evangelicals who think vaccines are made from fetus parts. The Q loons. The hyper partisans who think it's a culture war. The MAGAts who have moved beyond Trunp. And others.

There's going to be some overlap in the venn, but it's not even close to a complete circle.

But they'll try to get them.

My brother lives in FL. At some point he got into Newsmax and his brain melted. He refuses to get vaccinated, of course.

He got covid. Probably Delta. He showed up to get the monoclonal treatment. He git told he was too far along, just go home and ride it out. Call 911 if he couldn't breath anymore.

Took him about a month to recover.

But he did try to get the antibodies.

I had a yellow parakeet (budgie) my entire childhood. I am convinced she could talk, if she wanted to do it. She would make very psuedohuman noises, until she noticed one of us come into the room, then switch to bird chirps.

People who can't get vaccinated due to medical problems should go to the front of the line since those medical problems are probably putting them at very high risk. Then, vaccinated elderly and those with serious conditions. Then, the under 5 kiddos even if they're very unlikely to get sick, followed by other kids who are too young to get vaccinated on their own if their parents are anti-vaxer morons. Then, MAAAAYBE, if there's an extra dose rolling around in the bottom of the box, give it to the idiot who had abundant opportunity to get vaxed but didn't wanna.

The trade names are generated by sales people in many cases and are designed to sound both important and reassuring. But Paxlovid sounds like a mash-up of Paxil and poet Ovid, who wrote about seduction, among other things. I don't think these geniuses appreciated how fond the Qs and Magats are of imagining names mean something they don't (e.g, omicron = moronic). It's sort of a reverse, idiot nomenclatural magic.

I get to check these geniuses in for their infusions at work. We quickly send them over to the negative air pressure zone when they come in, but I like to send them off with a "Isn't it amazing that the same new technology process that gave us the vaccines also gave us this lifesaving medication!!"

For those who like horror stories before bedtime: How The Koch Network Hijacked The War On Covid https://www.exposedbycmd.or...

"The new academy [funded by the Kochs, at a tiny college in Michigan] appears to be the latest effort to provide intellectual cover to a nearly two-year campaign by right-wing and big business interests to force a return to normalcy to boost corporate profits amid a pandemic that is now surging once again thanks to Omicron.

This is the story of how that corporate-bankrolled campaign succeeded in supplanting public health experts and hijacking governmental response to the pandemic."
