Thanks for the Frankie I'd never tasted. Lightly reading comments also earned the discovery of Threads, which I'm going to start watching on the commute.

Ta, Marcie. Go to YouTube and listen to So Afraid of the Russians by Made for TV. John Cale produced it. I heard it on WLIR-FM when they were truly alternative radio, and called the station to nominate it for Screamer of the Week. Not only was it nominated, it won. John Cale produced.

Both Vlad and That Thing in the Offal Office cannot shuffle off this mortal coil quickly enough.

My word. He said if he became president again, he'd end the Russia-Ukraine war in one day, just one. Well, 48 hours tops. I believed him, too.

What HAPPENED, Donnie?

Putin is a dictator, but he’s not an absolute ruler. He will never be able to go nuclear no matter how small his dick looks in public - his generals have their own little fiefdoms, and they will NOT give them up for Moscow. He know this, so all his posturing and sending MIGs and SUs over Europe is nothing but flexing his tiny penis. A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury; signifying nothing.

That said…if I’m wrong, I’ll be in the basement regretting my life choices.

At least we stopped hearing "Russia would have never done X if I was President."

Didn’t Matt Yglesias once forget to log out of his burner account and post as himself praising himself for his great, common-sense takes?

Choosing Budapest for his war ending meeting was a choice, a sort of weird one, when one considers that's where Russia's government agreed in 1994 to..ahem.. respect Ukraine's sovereignty and existing borders and provide security assurances. (A fact not often mentioned by our Fashy glazing media)

This is the nuclear winter of our discontent.

Trump told us Putin wouldn't have even started acting up if he were in office, so what's with the ICBM testing all of a sudden? Does Putin think Biden is still president?

The "stable genius" has his head stuck in a cow's butt and has no idea what his master Putin will do.

Why should Ukraine give up as much as one square cm to Putin, the Warmonger.

marcus816's avatar

Just to be clear, Putin did not actually test nuclear weapons.

He was testing the nuclear weapons delivery systems.

Still nuclear weapon rattling, but no actual nuclear weapons. Big difference.

The only "peace plan" tfg has been pushing is for Zelenskey to give Putin whatever he wants, That's not happening. Putin also wants the 250 billion back, that's not happening either. Putin's meatgrinder offense has floundered in the field, his "army " is not winning. Putin's not going to stop voluntarily, he's just as deranged as tfg.

marcus816's avatar

Not sure that’s possible, but won’t quibble the fine points.

For some reason, blowing up schools and hospitals hasn’t resulted in the defeat of Ukraine’s military. It fact, it seems to piss off the Ukrainian people.

Maybe Putin doesn’t have any other cards to play.

There are occasional press reports of Nordic and European countries upping their defenses. Today trump announced sanctions on Russian oil - 10 months late. Anyhow, I think everyone except trump sees the writing on the wall. While he no longer has the military capacity in terms of troops and standard war weaponry, Putin has nukes and is seriously considering their use. I suspect that one tiny little nuke will elicit a response from everyplace except the USA that Putin will be completely incapable of dealing with. Unfortunately, a whole lot of people will die and get maimed in the process.

Wookiee Monster's avatar

Will he actually enforce those sanctions or will this be another case of “wink, wink,” we have sanctions now.

By "maimed" do you mean burned to a crisp?
