Here’s the thing. You know these antivax mo-rons were vaccinated by their own parents and have never seen the devastating effects of these diseases. I’m an old and there were no vax when I was a kid, except for smallpox and polio.
I had all of these things and it was really no fun. The measles left me hearing-impaired. That’s for life. Never gets better; in fact, the older I get, the worse the loss gets.
These people calling themselves ‘doctor’ who actively crusade against vaccinations should be horsewhipped.
Hey, here’s a great reminder to all adults with the means to go get your titers for vaccinations checked if you can. Because if one wore off or you never got it, best to go now and get that sucker done before you go to the mall and catch the most communicable and deadly disease humans can get. Also, probably you could use a tetanus booster and pertussis anyways because those wear off. And pertussis is bad for old folks as well as wee tiny folks too small to get their shots yet. Be the herd you want to see in the world!
My family doesn't deserve this. There are millions of good people in Florida who are at the mercy of these homicidal maniacs whom they don't support. As to the ones who do support them, THEY are getting the government they deserve.
Of course your family and any person with two brain cells to rub together doesn't deserve those asshats.......hence my 'sigh' at the end. I have several FORMER friends who are Trumpers and voted for D'dipshit, now bitching about the book bans and all the nazi shit........sad day for them. I'm old enough to remember when FLA. was blue (mostly blue dog Dems......but still......) then it went purple and then you had the 2000 debacle election.......and now? Russian red. (which is surprising with the huge EXPAT Cuban population). I guess my point is, you get the fuckstains people vote for, and there in lies the problem. How do we turn this around?
Well, first off, the people who are noticing that they don't like what they voted for is a place to start. I would not taunt them or anything, just suggest that they see if there are people running who don't look as though they'd do things like that, that they don't like, and consider whether they would prefer voting for those people.
I escaped Florida for good in 1980 and go back only to see my family and attend high school reunions (and one vacation with friends from up here). When I go back, I don't find myself surrounded by rightwing nutjobs, but I sure find an unsettling number of those up here. They're everywhere. I'm old enough and unscary enough (small, older white woman) that I can mostly get away with just being myself and listening to what people tell me. We can almost always find something we agree on, and that may (or may not) plant a seed. I'm sure there are people you just have to cut out of your life; mine are mostly well-paid, leftier-than-thou white techbros, who are far worse people than any of the Trumpy fools I know.
As I tell people often, the purity police can never be satisfied. Everyone will eventually be found wanting and will be cast out as apostate.
Parents who are are anti-vax for bizarre conspiratorial reasons are definitely the parents most qualified to decide if their unvaccinated kids should go to school. Sheesh, that is just plain good 'ol Florida commonsense.
Trouble is, those morons are making choices on my behalf, which sort of negates my parental choice to raise my kids to adulthood without them contracting communicable diseases at school.
Ladapo could always either make up or twist more "data" and put out another "peer-reviewed" study saying a measles outbreak actually benefits our communities. Ladapo knows he can find "peers" among the same Concerned Physicians for a Concerned America's Concerns* group he emerged from (via Fox News) in the first place; he might even be able to conjure some of those real demons to sexxxxy time his dreams and inspire the words he uses to pull the med-jargon wool over the public's gullible eyes.
I'm old, we didn't have the MMR vaccine when I was a kid. Predictably, I caught all three which was hailed as a medical miracle because now I was immune! A lifetime of sinus and hearing problems later, they're right. I never got reinfected with those particular illnesses.
Like the ad lady says, “I’m not quite sure how something that’s just a little, tiny prick can be so powerful in so many different ways.”
PS - I'm not talking about the vax...
if your child dies from a disease they could have avoided through vaccination, you should be charged with culpable manslaughter, if not murder

Thanks to Trump and the MAGA mentality Florida (and Texas) have become shithole states within out country.
Oddly enough, the Manatee Bay Elementary School mascot is a lion.
Florida.....you get the government you DESERVE........sigh....

If it can't be cured through leaching or bleeding, is it really even a disease?
This is your state.
This is your state on Ladopa.
Some people are just impervious to the benefits of civilization, I suppose.

*perhaps not their real name, but close.
Oh good. Another story about Rhonda Santis killing children.
