A former Latina co-worker and Asian co-worker used to constantly disparage other minorities, including a Black co-worker. When I brought this up to the manager I was told that, despite being offended, I was not personally affected and that nothing would be addressed.
A few years ago, I read an article detailing how an overwhelming percentage of Mexicans and Mexican Americans consider themselves "white." I know for a fact that European Americans do NOT consider them so, and I always found the disconnect to be an interesting aspect of how "race" actually works in this (and other) countries.
I'm so glad we have Wonkette post to explain things. Reminds me of how Handmaids Tale, where June/Offred is white, and nicknamed her half black child "monkey"... people are understably pissed.
