Wednesday, a guy with a rifle, Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, went on his own one-man jihad in Ottawa, killing a soldier at the national war memorial and then going into the Parliament building, where he was shot by security before he could harm anyone else; this was the second attack on Canadian military members this week. We're just going to let Rachel Maddow explain it all to you because 1) it's a big story but 2) there's nothing funny about it for us to say, and 3) Canada.
Nor will they mention that all he had was a standard hunting shotgun, instead of one of our good ol' US of A AR-15 rapid bullet deployers. Helped to prevent this from being another mass casualty event.
I am fascinated that he had to actually carry out what would have been considered a merely ceremonial function- maintain security in the House. But then, I teach Canadian civics.
Well, back in 1975 I spent several hours locked in a gym change room while a teen at my Brampton, Ontario high school killed a student, a teacher and himself. So not so much new smell.
My 89 yr old mother is convinced that the US is behind it. But then she thinks that Kerry is pulling the strings in the Ukraine, Syria, and Gaza. She and my sons were going to visit the Warplane Museum in Hamilton today. They decided not to.
My thoughts go out to the family of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, who was by all accounts a good and courageous man and an example of Canada's best. Kudos to the capitol's security services and especially new hero Kevin Vickers, the 58 year old Sgt. At Arms, whose quick actions brought this tragic episode to an end. After they emerge from their understandable sadness and shock, I am confident that the Canadian people will respond to this episode and the earlier attack in Quebec with well-considered, appropriate and proportional actions (unlike citizens of some countries we know *looks slowly around room*) and refrain from engaging in a nation-wide freak-out spasm, because Canadians are better than that.
I am not unhinged enough to be able to guess how this is part of the Obama Gun conspiracy. Your move, LaPierre.
Ugh, great. Another round of "See? You can't trust those Muslim people!"
The only thing that'll stop a bad Canadian with a gun!
and beaver tails!
I'll bet he doesn't even suffer from a teeny weeny peeny, either.

Bibeau? Isn't that the bald headed sheriff from Pinal county AZ?

Thanks. It's a shitty day.

I think they get to the word "Muslim" and the "thought process" stops. Just me 'umble opinion.
There are some people on my fb page whose status updates I don't want to see today.
Oh, and by the way, a big steaming cup of shut-the-fuck-up to Geraldo. I'd call him a douche but douches serve a purpose.
